Should I Stay with Myown Health Insurance or Switch?

I am with Myown Health Insurance, and I just received an email about AIA Health Insurance. I have just checked Myown website, it looks like they no longer offer their health insurance policy anymore. Should I switch?

The email outlines;

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new private health insurance offering – AIA Health Insurance.

We started our journey just a few years ago with myOwn health insurance. Now, the launch of AIA Health Insurance with AIA Vitality marks an exciting milestone for AIA Australia, as we bring together life, health, and wellbeing - to help Australians live healthier, longer, better lives.

AIA Health Insurance will be launching soon to the wider market. And, as a valued myOwn member we have a special invitation for you to switch to AIA Health Insurance now.

A special offer for you!
Switch from myOwn to AIA Health Insurance, on any product, and receive an e-gift card from your choice of Woolworths, Myer or rebel - up to the value of $400 for Family or Couple combined policies and up to $200 for Single Parent or Single combined policies^. The type of policy you purchase will determine the value of the e-gift card you receive.

    So when your Myhealth policy expires, you can't renew. So you can take up the AIA offer and pocket the gift card then reassess in 12 months for a better deal.
    AIA Vitality make you wear a fitbit and record your "lifestyle". Imagine going to hospital and claiming off your health insurance and find - sorry no claim, you didn't walk enough miles this year.

    • I don't see any expiry on myown policy. but the email also said;

      If you choose to stay with your current myOwn policy, there is nothing for you to do. You will continue to receive the same great service you currently enjoy, access to your Member Portal, use of your existing membership card and dedicated myOwn contact number of 1300 300 338.

      However, please be aware that the industry’s annual premium increases are due to take effect on 1 April 2020 and your myOwn policy will be subject to these changes. You will receive a separate communication regarding premium increases in the coming weeks.

        I like this threat.

        Wonder if AIA had a falling out with their partner.

    Yeah go on, it's only your health insurance. What's the worst that could happen?

  • What is the price compared to your old insurance and any difference?

      "If you would like a quote to compare your current myOwn policy with one of our new AIA Health Insurance products, please contact our Health Insurance Consultants on 1300 300 338"

      So I will have to call to find out
