I just disassebmled this very phone yesterday night. The camera module itself is part of the main motherboard so that can't really be replaced easily.
But assuming from the photo, it's just the outside glass that's broken… you can simply buy a rear housing off of Ebay for a Redmi Note 5, and replace it yourself. Shouldn't cost more than $35 for it.
Thank you very much.
I can take pictures/vids from it but they are very faded/blur, do you think the camera lens could be still in good shape?
BTW, can you please share the ebay link of item which you are suggesting?
I reckon your best bet as to finding out if the actually camera sensor is still ok… is to actually remove the back housing of the phone (the side with the broken camera glass).
Use the camera app without the broken glass obstructing the view and see if it's clear.
Tbh, I doubt the actual camera sensor is broken. Would be pretty hard to break.
Here's an example of what I mentioned:

thanks :) Will try
Do you have any reference vid or steps on how to dissemble it(remove the back housing of the phone)?
The casing looks pretty tight and hard to open. Used something to open it?

You're pretty much done after the first step. But be sure to heat up the edges with a hairdryer first to soften up the glue
@Bignudge: thanks again.
I took the back cover out and looks like the photos are still blur/faded
So looks like Im out of option now, the camera lens must have been damaged already.
Probably need to buy new one, at present this price looks too good.
Xiaomi Mi 9T 6GB/128GB (Black/Flame Red) $399 @ JB Hi-Fi
BY any chance do you know how the camera is for Xiaomi Mi 9T?
@anonymoususer: Mate, you are literally just one step behind me lol.
I just bought that exact same phone for my girlfriend yesterday. I can't comment about the camera because I haven't used it myself.
But what I did for an even better deal is go to OfficeWorks and pricematch that JB Hi-Fi deal. After a quick check on their computer they beat JB Hi-Fi by an extra 5%. Meaning I got that phone for $380.
Try different OfficeWorks locations as some places can really be stingy and pull crap out like how the model number is not exactly the same etc.
@Bignudge: Hehe, excellent, thanks.
Enjoy weekend
