34" Ultrawide Vs Dual 27" Setup ??

Hi, new here.
I'm planning on getting a new monitor. However, i can't decide on which one to get.
My options are 34" Ultrawide Monitor or a Dual 27" Monitor setup.
I plan to game and work on it. I also, like to game and have a movie or show play on the side.

I've tried 34" and didn't like it. Requires software to fake having dual monitors or to play in a window and risk minimising mid-game. Great for watching a movie or playing a game full screen though (and doing nothing else).

Also 16:9 is the standard video format for viewing Youtube, recording your screen, etc.

Having a couple of 27" 1440p monitors will always useful.

    • Thanks much appreciated.

  • I love my 34 ultrawide. You do need a beefy pc to max it out though.
For 21:9 movies there are no/minimal black bars.

  • I much prefer 34". You could get one of the older models for a reasonable price and still get a 27" on the side.

It isn't good for running games + movies at the same time, but I find it much better for productivity (two half screens is easy with anything that's not fullscreen).

  • On 34 ultrawide at home, while having dual screens at work.

I prefer the ultrawide, found it easier to work with, prefer snapping than moving between screens.

  • 38 inch ultrawide.

  • I run a 'stacked' configuration for my home setup and love it - 35" ultrawide as the main screen, 24" FHD above it for tv / movies.

  • For the ultrawide i should go 1440p right ? Only thing im nervous about is running games on it.

    • Only if your rig is capable enough. I enjoyed 29in ultrawide in 1080p and (honestly) saw a less than stellar improved experience when going to 34in ultrawide in 1440p. I mean it definitely is better, but not by much as I had expected. Coupled with everything running slower due to heavier requirements (4.95m pixels vs 2.76m), it was less than ideal for me.

Now, I need to build a new rig to play smoothly on my 34in.

  • I have a 34" ultrawide and 24" screen on the side.
34" is for basically everything and 24" for music/messages/anything I need to alt tab to.

The only thing I don't like is that when browsing things such as OzB, there is a ton of white space. Therefore I tend to not have my windows maximized.
