Apple iPhone Battery Replacement Price Lowered?

Apple apologized and lowered the price for replacement batteries to $29 from $79.

Does this article mean Australia? If so, and if made $29 can it be made into a deal? I want to replace my iPhone 7 batteries asap as it needs to be attached to my powerbank most of the time. I keep it charged 40% to 80% all the time if it means much. And it’s at 84% capacity.

This was the previous discounted price for battery replacements which as now expired, not a new initiative.

The last day to get your iPhone's battery replaced for the discounted fee of $29 is Dec. 31, 2018.

Assuming your iPhone 7 is out of warranty, get a <$20 kit off eBay and DIY in less than 10 mins.

The issue here wasn't the slowdown of devices (to preserve and prolong them which was a good thing) but that they didn't tell people or provide a choice and so everyone got uppity. All batteries degrade over time and impact performance.

    • HI Hybroid,

I'm afraid that replacing battery by a non-professional method will make the water-resistance useless. What do you think?

  • Yeah the lowered price ended over a year ago
    Was $49 in Australia

    • Yeah, this is old news. The news is that Apple has to pay.

      • The lawyers plan to seek up to $93m, equal to 30% of $310m, in legal fees, plus up to $1.5m for expenses.

Americans will be lucky to get $10-15 each by the time it filters down.

        • Minimum $25 per iPhone owner as per the settlement.

          • @jimbobaus: That’s before lawyer fees and claim processing fees.

            • @Hybroid: Nope. If you read the actual settlement agreement after everything a set amount (I think it’s $310m) is to be distributed with each iPhone owner to get no less than $25usd

I did see the lawyers are trying to take a cut but everywhere I am reading says the settlement agreement has a minimum payment clause regardless of who gets what fees.

              • @jimbobaus: You may be right, we'll see when it all gets approved and claims go live. Not that it matters for anyone non-US though.

                • @Hybroid: I know!
Which sucks for those who were affected outside yet the us

FYI it is unlikely that Apple will replace your battery, as it probably wouldn't reach their threshold for a battery replacement.

When I had an iPhone 6 battery replaced towards the end of 2018 for $39 at an Apple Store, I was told that a battery had to be at or below 80 percent health rating to be eligible for a battery replacement. If your battery has a high cycle count (e.g. approximately 1000), you may be able to get a replacement with a battery replacement at 84 percent, especially if you nag them…
