These are selling out fast in stores, looks like people have picked up that they are a good thing. Not the cheapest Android TV on the market, but a lot easier to return if you don't like it than a Kogan.

I've purchased one of the 65" for my elderly mother and she's very happy with it. The Android TV functionality and Google Assistant remote is everything it needs to be. Fast, intuitive, easy to use and has a good prospect of it's apps remaining functional for longer as it gets them from the Google Play Store. It works with all the major FreeTV / Pay services (Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine, Ten) and music services as well. It also works with her Google Home Mini.

The picture quality is punching way above it's price point, and the built in sound would actually be tolerable to use.

  • The 65 was $549 during boxing day / new year sales.

    • True, great buy then, this is the cheapest it's been in a while. I think it's still good value.

    Great TV - i have the 65"
there were a few bugs, however firmware updates have fixed most. however one bug still remains - when using Google Assistance on the remote, it forgets all the saved apps/icons and reverts to default… very annoying.
other than that - it's a great tv for the price… i can't fault the image quality at all

  • Any other people have experience with this TV?

Spec wise, this is very appealing!
    • Dolby Digital Plus which work with Dolby Atmos Soundbar
    • HDMI ARC to enable the Atmos!

Had it for about 3 months. I love it. The main reason going for this over another smart TV was that it ran Android. So at least it will get updated more often than the others.

Also it works well with my Android phone regarding accounts setup and payments (for rental movies).

      • it ran Android. So at least it will get updated more often than the others.

Don’t count on it. I have a Sony Android TV, it’s last update was May 2018, 15mth after buying it.

        • Better than zero updates on my last smart TV. I have been getting regular security updates with this TV.

Does anyone know if this TV can have Kayo loaded on it. I need a big cheap TV to watch my team get smashed every weekend.

    • +1

      Yes

    • Yes you can add Kayo and the quality / performance of the stream will depend on your internet connectivity.

  • This TV have the wide colour gamut? or is it still 8bit panel anyone know?

    • +1

Specs says 16.7 Million, so that means it's 8 bit. Better off waiting for the Aldi 58" with QLED panel. They do over 1 Billion colors which is 10bit, much better picture.

From what I have heard, the stock image isn't as good as it can be. So when you set it up. play with the picture settings to dial it in. The sound is great from this TV as well (I have the 55") Sometimes I thought I was connected to the soundbar but in fact it was the built in speakers.

Having Android on this TV is a plus as well as it gets more frequent updates than normal smart TVs.

  • I've got the 75" non-android version. TV is great for the price, especially since I was looking for a dumb TV so I could hook up a ROKU.

Obviously get what you pay for though IE HEAVY back light bleed on black screens and the sound is atrocious but overall very happy. Got a sound bar on the way to alleviate sound and the bleed is not noticeable unless pure black screen.

  • This or the Ffalcon 65" from JBHiFi?

    • This is better in every measurable way, except maybe warranty. Warranty is only 1 year, but it's in home servicing which is still good.

Ffalcon has very rudimentary smart TV functions, where Android TV is really, really good, possibly the best builtin smart TV functionality in the market. And this model has the Google Assistant remote which means you can talk to it instead of pressing buttons, which is quite useful, but incredibly useful for people with a visual impairment.

      • Fflacon only 1 year warranty. So scratch that as an advantage. EKO is better in every way. Spend the extra $50, you won't regret it.

    • Spec wise, this is better!

  • I've had the 65" since it went on sale for $549. Love it!

For those considering the 55", maybe consider looking at the 50" Hisense 50RG for an extra ~$50. I picked up one the other day and am really impressed. Has Android TV, does 4K60 @ 4:4:4 (not sure about this Eko), input lag seems very good in Game mode and motion handling is great. Also get a 3-year warranty and much better brand reputation.

    • Agreed, the Hisense range was the best comparison in regards to features and performance, with both looking very similar to me. I haven't tried game mode, so I'm unable to comment on that. EKO have gone to the effort to put together a very nice customer website and were responsive to support enquiries, so I'm hoping they are here to stay, Hisense have done a good job of building a budget brand reputation. The 3 year Hisense warranty was a big value add, but in the end not quite enough to sway the price premium over the EKO.
