Hi all,
I recently bought a Google Pixel 4XL via the Vodaphone deal. This was my first time with no stereo jack, previous to this the stereo jack was not a negotiable item.
Because my current phone was dying and the timing of the good Vodaphone deal I decided to dive into it.
As soon as I opened the box I started to regret the purchase, the USB C earphones provided ear ear buds type ones, and Google don't give you an an USB-C to Stereo Jack adapter.
I purchased a couple of adapters from eBay but many of them say they are not compatible with the Google Pixel, while I purchased ones that didn't state that, I have read the quality of many adapters are crap. Something something about ohms, resistance , bad sound quality.
I still have a few Xiaomi Hybrid Pro in-ear earhphones that I'd like to use but I am starting to resolve myself I will have to buy USB-C ones.
Given the adapters are crap, does anyone know of any decent USB-C earphones out there? I don't need super qualiuty ones, just ones like the quality of the Xiaomi Hybrid Pros.
I don't see many and I fear that people are just jumping from stereo jack to wireless which means USB-C ones are rarer.
Sorry all, I am one of the few that really dislike bluetooth earphones so they are not in consideration right now.
Help appreciated.
Hey mate you need a dongle/adapter that is or has a built in DAC (digital to analogue converter)they are the only style of adapter that will work with your phone. I got a Mi Mix 3 5G and it also uses the USB type C port for audio but does not require a DAC as its already an analogue signal. I bought a bunch of Ugreen branded adapters and they work great they cost like $4.50 each but these won't work on your phone.
You can buy DACs that have built in amps for extra output. You should be able to find a DAC adapter for around $20 as for the quality i can't comment as i have not tried them.
These lads on head-fi know there stuff.
