Does Any Clothing Manufacturer Make a Consistent Line of Products That Don’T Change Year to Year/Season to Season?

I thought maybe you fine folks here on OzBargain might know of clothing manufacturers that make a consistent line of clothing items, or models which doesn’t typically change from year to year, or season to season?

What I’m specifically looking for are things like tennis shoes (sneakers), men’s slacks, and track suits.

I often find that I am able to find a pair of shoes, or track pants that I like, and fit, and within a year I’m back to looking for another pair of sneakers, pants or what have you that fits, and it takes forever looking again. So does anybody know of shoes, or clothing that basically stays the same?

Any info would be wonderful, and I certainly don’t expect people to go looking for me, just any first hand information would be great.

Cheers,

Jawanzar :)

    Levis 501

    • Ok thanks :)

Teamed with Chuck Taylor All Stars.

      • Thanks for the suggestion but my feet don’t fit into Chucks, they’re too wide.

    AS Colour

    • Ok thanks, I’ll check em out. :)

    • AS Colour do change around the styles that they offer. They just pulled the pants style that I've been wearing :(

      • Oh really, that sucks, their paper tee is probably my favourite plain tee you can buy. Hope they never ditch it.

    Uniqlo

    • I didn’t even consider Uniqlo. I think I might have looked at them in the past but I was turned off because I couldn’t physically try anything on.

For instance I always thought that I was a size 36, but I’ve put on weight because of some meds and now I’m 40 (when to a men’s store at Harbour Town and the chap measured me with his tape) so I just would have ordered all 36 and it wouldn’t fit.

  • Nike make their staple items (like all white AF1). Adidas make their Stan Smith ranges

    • Ok thanks, didn’t realise that Nike had a basics range, I’ll have me a gander. :)

  • Target

Yeah I went to Target the other day and noticed they were selling lots of branded gear. They had a pair of machine washable wool slacks on their website but looks like it’s sold out everywhere. I’ll have another go in Target though. :)

Or, why don’t you just buy multiple of the items you like?

    • Yeah good question, I suppose mainly because I don’t want to be stuck with a wardrobe and then need replacements that I can’t get. But buying multiples is definitely an option for sure that I might just have to bite the bullet with.

  • Thanks for all the replies folks :) Really appreciate it.

Wide feet means you should be a New Balance customer and they have classics that are always the same.

      • Ok thanks :) I’ll have a look at New Balance next time I’m at Harbor Town.

    R.M Williams maybe.

    Dunlop Volleys?

    • Thanks for the suggestions. :) RM Williams is probably out of my price range, and my feet don’t fit into Volleys, but I saw a pair of those, I think, Dunlop KM23’s, and I don’t think they’ve maybe ever changed. So volleys is a great suggestion, as is so many others so far, but it’s more that a lot of it for whatever I don’t fit.

Dunlop KT26? Been the same since the 80's

        • Yep that’s the ones. Funnily enough, I think they go in and out of fashion!

      • RM Williams can be worth it though. Saving money upfront can be false economy. For example I bought a pair of RMs when I started my job. They were outrageously expensive, but I Have worn them every weekday for 17 years. I only just replaced the soles, which cost $300 but should be good for another decade. If I’d done what I always did and bought $50-100 shoes, I would’ve spent significantly more over that timeframe. Another anecdotal story, a guy who works for me finally went to get a new pair of RMs after 20 years, and was shocked that the model he has now costs $900, but we worked out inflation over 20 years and that’s actually not too much more than just inflation on the original price. So yeah, $400 now for the cheapest pair on sale, but it’ll last 10 years and is repairable, unlike joggers.

        • That’s true. I’d agree if that cost is spread over a long period it likely would work out to be the same cost, perhaps more so considering some of the costs of more expensive sneakers, such are in the range of $300-$350, which is nuts, IMO.

New Balance 624's haven't changed much. (Regularly go on 1/2 price sale). (Try and pay $65). Wide is standard but there is wider(er).
Adidas team barricade don't change much either; but have recently become a bit narrower (so I'm not impressed). (These are expensive)
Ben Sherman Harrington jackets don't change much but there are varieties… Core or Heritage. (Never pay more than $80).
Bulk buy business shirts and keeping in their plastic works for me.

Amazon is great for buying jeans/chinos/pants with short legs 29 or 30 for example. Cheap too.

Always best to try shoes on eg. at Rebel (get the model number) and then buy cheaper online.
Shoe sizes very across brands and styles.

    • Thanks heaps for the info! :)

Maybe those costumes they wear in North Korea?

    • Thanks but I think they’d be too restrictive.

I would say the Dunlop Volleys in years gone by when they were Australian Made.

Now, ROYAL ELASTIC are atill made in Australia.

Next would be: made in the USA New Balance versions deserve a buy now advice.

    • Ok thanks :) What’s Royal Elastic?

  • Australian Stitch, Wayver, Bassike.
