10%. Woo. The crowd goes mild!

    • I believe it is a minimum of 10%.

Not sure if that changes much, but that's what the site says.

      • +3

I’ll pop in to check it out. Cool store but many times I found some of the stuff elsewhere at cheaper prices.

        • +1

          Lots of use of ellipses

      • A minimum of 10% of the crowd goes mild.

    • +4

I much rather this than one of those " up to 70% off" ones where only 1 crappy item is reduced by that much.

  • +1

Good, went into mind games during the tamagotchi resurface even though I called in advance to confirm stock the store person was extremely rude and denying they even had stock.

After his co-worker told him they did have it his like oh ok whatever and withot even an apology.

    • +11

Maybe he was just playing Mind Games with you.

  • due to a sudden, significant increase in rent.

    how much is the rent?

    • +1

      how much is the rent?

      Significantly less.

      • +1

        Actually it'd be significantly more

        • -1

But significantly less before. Now significantly more.

          • @serpserpserp: Had he said, was the rent, that'd be less.

Spot the people with not much on Monday morning :)

            • +1

@scuderiarmani: Mondayitis is a terrible disease which deserves greater awareness. FYI I am also suffering from it right now, I'm at work doing nothing but browsing OzBargain.

            • +3

@scuderiarmani: Given that they are closing the store as a result of being told that the rent will increase, I would submit that the rent is significantly less…. than what the property owners are now demanding. Commercial rent doesn't change that swiftly - it's not like the building owners will call and say "Good morning. Your rent is going up by 30% on Monday, kthxbai."

Had jv said "how much is the rent going to be?" (or similar, but more readable), then significantly more would be correct.

    • Currently less than what it will become at the end of their lease.

    • Who own the building? Foreign investment?

I thought investment if making factories/creating jobs, not buying land/building/increasing rent?

  • I went over the weekend. Everything is 10% unless marked. Prices still seems pricier compared to online for the games i was looking for. Might be bargains for other games

    • +3

Might be bargains for other games

      or might not

      Are there any bargains ??

      • +2

Are you actually intending to buy anything from them or just being your usual self?

        • +2

Are you actually intending to buy anything

Perhaps, if there is a bargain…

          • @jv: Hmmm, I’m pretty much doubting that. If you were REALLY interested you would get off your tush and ring or go down to the store. Got to admit I’m getting sick of people who demand an example of a “bargain”. You’ve been notified, do some work yourself.

            • +3

@try2bhelpful: The onus is on the original poster. At least a couple deal posting guidelines are being ignored here:

              • POST a clear title including price (of an example deal item).
              • CHECK competitors prices before posting.
              • MAKE sure there is sufficient quantity.
            • @try2bhelpful: Do what I did - there's an awesome link underneath every post - simply labelled "hide".
Clicking this on any annoying person's post, will hide every single post they make, on every page! (as long as you're logged in)

It certainly makes OzBargain more enjoyable when you get rid of a few of them.

@jv: @Jv, stop playing mind games, you big tease :P

            • @[Deactivated]: I know what he is doing but he is raising an issue that is, probably, stopping people posting. We keep seeing people who go on about other people “growing up” but we have a policy where people are not expected to get off their backsides and do a bit of research for themselves when they’ve been told there is a site wide discount. I agree this policy should be in place for people associated with the organisation but for the general poster it is just a pain in the butt. If you are interested then look for yourself, don’t expect me to guess what you might be interested in.

        • +2

he has 68,000 comments on ozb and at least 3/4 contribute nothing to the thread, only looking to get a rise out of whoever will bite. try to resist… I know it can be tough!!

          • +1

@Hinee: I know he is trying to get a rise; He is a strange little person. But my point is still valid. I think the rules need to be changed to encourage people to post. People are doing us a favour by posting, I want to make it as easy as possible for them to do it. If we keep pissing them off they will stop doing it. I’m happy to post something I see, but I’ll be stuffed if I chase every rabbit down every hole to see if some obscure eBay poster has it for 1c cheaper and then you get to debate postage. JV is just background irritation but the point still stands. Let people get off their arse and see if they can find better. The comments section normally highlights if someone has a better deal, anyway.

            • -1

@try2bhelpful: You can raise your concern here.

As for JV, if you believe she is trying to get a rise, you can always report him for trolling.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Thanks for the link. I have done so. If I reported JV for trolling I wouldn’t be doing anything else, all day. Apparently JV has nothing better to do, but I do.

      • Are there any bargains ??

If you consider 10% off RRP a bargain. Then yes.

        • If you consider 10% off RRP a bargain.

Not if you can buy it cheaper elsewhere?

Are there any bargains at this store?

  • +3

Wow must be one very tough street. Apparently moving stock from 244 Swanston St to 145 Swanston St is way too expensive, so a closing down sale is needed. (I'm sure that fitting in double the stock wouldn't have been easy, but come on!) Edit: 244 Swantston St is a tiny store even if they're storing things upstairs. I smell sales people manure.

    • +1

      In the link it says
"So come buy lots of gaming goodies to save us having to pack the games and shift them to our other store!"
So they are probs moving what they don't sell to the other store.

    • +1

They'll only discount it to the point that it's cheaper to move the stock between locations - after that, it's shift stock time!

      • +4

only discount it to the point that it's cheaper to move the stock

It's not cheaper, they're going to move stock anyway.

This is just a marketing ploy, not a bargain…

        • -1

          Retail price: $50.
Cost in labour etc to move stock between locations - $8 (plucked out of thin air)
          Maximum discount: $8

Any discounting will only be down to the point that the business is better off paying to move the stock and store it at the other location.

          • -1

            @nezumi:

Cost in labour etc to move stock between locations - $8

The labour has already been paid for…

        • …and if you fall for it, you lost the mind game. Game over man! Game over!

    • 244 is pretty packed, actually. Upstairs is all floor/shop space with a small storeroom and office. 145 is a lot smaller and also pretty packed as is.

  • +4

10% off brings it to 25% overpriced.

    • +2

      shhhhh….
quiet! dont tell the truth… ;p

  • I checked it out on Friday, there are SOME items with bright coloured stickers at a bigger discount, but everything else is a flat 10% off.

  • I bought some Pokemon Nanoblock things for my nephew.

Not sure how much they normally cost but my:
    - Pokemon Pikachu NBPM_001 was $13.05
    - Pokemon Mega Charizard X was $14.40
    … after the discount.

Pity the sale was not earlier as two weeks before I got a 5x5 Rubik's cube for myself for $40.

There may be a lot of little things in the store that may be interesting like small gifts for young family members or fun board games. Just have a look for yourselves.

    • Pity the sale was not earlier as two weeks before I got a 5x5 Rubik's cube for myself for $40.

      You only lost $4.
