Oral-B Genius 8000 Electric Toothbrush $129.99 @ Chemist Warehouse

140

Not the cheapest it has ever been but all of the recent deals have been on eBay/Amazon and sold out before I could nab one.

This is sold out online but available via click & collect or in-store and the store stock search seems to work pretty well. I just picked one up from the Carnegie store and there were still two left on the shelf.

Usually find the 9000 model around $130-$150 on eBay

    • The current cheapest on eBay for the 9000 is $150 and the only difference between the 8000 and 9000 is a tongue-cleaning mode and a travel case. I wasn't interested in either of those things so I was happy to save the $20.

  • Great find.. My 5 year old one is starting to die and brushes very weakly now. Bought this as replacement. Thanks

damn thats one hell of price for a toothbrush

    • Just divide by how many tooth you have on your mouth, it will starting to sounds much cheaper….

      • i have a very basic model that need replacing but damn this is really expensive… is the extra feature worth the extra $$$?

The features and different modes IMO are all useless. What is important is the rotation speed of the head, on this it's best to get the highest. I believe from memory (but could be wrong now) that the 5000, 8000 and 9000 are all equivalent in this respect - the lower models are slower and therefore worse. The 8000 comes with a nice carry case and may also have a different/better battery - the 9000 has a charger built into the carry case which if you value it would also be useful for travelling etc. The 8000 is a great model and should last you a number of years. Have used the 8000 and then 9000 for around the last 7 years and if I ever have to use a manual toothbrush for a night it feels like I have barely brushed them, it can't be all that surprising that with all of modern technology we figured out a better and more effective way to brush our teeth than they did in 1910 - appreciate it's a lot to spend on a toothbrush but IMO it's a real investment in your long term dental health.

          • @Sydney-bargainhunter:

it's best to get the highest

            No it isn't.

There is a point at which no additional cleaning occurs and everything after that is wear at an ever increasing rate.

@Sydney-bargainhunter: The Australian Dental Association does not recommend using a particular type of toothbrush, Houghton said.

"They are all variations of a theme where they rotary or whether they oscillate backwards and forwards. If you get those bristles to the tooth gum junction and clean around those areas properly whether the bristle oscillate or go round and round doesn't mater, just as long as you get those bristles to that part of the tooth."

Could it be u just use better technique while using an electric?

  • Been trying to wait for the 9000 to get to this price.. Or the new genius AI version too

Having been spoiled by the Bluetooth features and other nonsense that the xiaomi oclean x has, this seems paltry in comparison, lol.

What bluetooth features can it possibly have? Hold the toothbrush in your mouth and press the start button on your phone?

  • Thanks I got one.

  • I paid $99 last December at Shavershop ebay deal. This Oral-B Genius 8000 is better than my Philips Diamondclean Electric Toothbrush.

  • Amazon has price matched, though unfortunately falls into a non-cashback category.

My Trizone 5000 died last week, have fallen back to the $10 Vitality from a previous Amazon deal. While it's probably doing an ok job just feels underpowered now (lack of pulsation? think it's lower oscillations too)

Maybe I'll wait till there's another sub $100 deal on this one.
