They should really invest in some better looking models.

I thought they were just customers? You get store credit for photos submitted.

      • +2

Oh really? It's just that the quality of the photos seem consistent and I see the same people popping up a lot.

        • +1

I'm sure they have some models (probably company employees) but they do encourage tshirt owners to submit photos for display. You get $1.50 -$15.00 credit per photo.

        • Oh, fair enough.

        • +1

Nope. You get a few bucks for posing with their shirts, they have to fulfill specific criteria whence why the 'uniform' appearance eg: Must show face, be X size, and have the shirt-design showing. I've done it a couple times, and if your photo gets chosen on frontpage you get a nice bonus.

But yeah, there's one particular male who looks like he has a bad case of ezcema and is in seemingly half their designs.

        • and if your photo gets chosen on frontpage you get a nice bonus.

How much do they give you for that?

Why should they get better looking models? The regular customer doesn't have model looks. I think they're trying to say that anyone can wear their clothes regardless of their look or body shape. A refreshing change if you ask me. Some of their shirts are a little over the top but some of the other ones are great. I'm still waiting on my first order from them to see the quality, sizing etc. to determine if I continue to buy from them.

    • Agreed completely, I got a shirt with a rainbow on the shoulder, looking for it to see how threadless are

    • If you ordered it from their last sale, it should be arriving soon. On Thursday I received my order from their last sale when the tees were $12, haven't got the ones I ordered when they reduced the price to $10 yet though. Mind you, I think this sale is going to be a shorter one than the last one.

    • It's terrible marketing. The reason fashion labels employ good looking models is so they can say 'hey, if you buy our stuff, you'll look like this!'

I get it if you have 'ordinary' people but some of them aren't exactly ordinary. There's this one guy whom I always see who looks like his face has been burnt.

      • Threadless is ridiculously profitable. All their designs are community provided and chosen, they don't have to pay for models. All they do is host the site and manage the shirt-printing. Their shirts cost $4 to print and sell for $20 on average (not on sale).

        Yeah, Mr Ezcema

I wonder why they use him on all their shirts though.

They do pay well for designs:

"Each designer selected receives $2,000 in cash, a $500 gift certificate (which they may trade in for $200 in cash), as well as an additional $500 for every reprint."

  • They should get better fabric, like they used to. The batch I purchased last month was nowhere near the fabric quality that I received a year or two ago. They seem a lot thinner.

    • There are several different types of fabric brands they use.

Somewhere it is possible to see the brand but I dont remember where it is.

    • You can email them to ask which particular brand of T-Shirt they use to print your Tee. Previously, the most common brands Threadless Tee were printed on were "American Apparel" and "Fruit of the Loom".
However, I think Threadless now manufactures its own Tees.

  • I agree… Their t shirt quality ranges between low to average. Wish the fabric was thicker.

    • Agree, that's what i think their $20 shirt quality. Kmart and Target has shirt with better fabric for about $10. However I really like Threadless's design.

  • Noticed you can submit your own designs. My wife is an artist so shes going to give it a go! +++ for an awesome link..

    • $2000 cash is pretty awesome

  • Aren't you all a little old to still be wearing graphic tshirts?

    • How do you know how old I am?

    • I did not know there was an age limit

    • Going byt that mentality, why do you call yourself Joey and not Joe?

  • I bought about a dozen the last time around.

    The shirts are quite thin.

$10 is a reasonable price (say $13-$15 shipped for a thin shirt with an interesting design).

Dont think I'll be a repeat customer unless I see a truly amazing design.

  • Hmmm… is this working for anyone? I'm still seeing $18, $15, etc…

    • Yeh same, is it meant to be all tees or just a selected few?

EDIT: Just checked their facebook page. Apparently it is all tees starting at 10am US time. Not 12:01am NSW time as the submitter had assumed.
