@Omk4r123: Just did a quick speed test, 45.3/17.8 normally, 44.2/17.3 with nord connected to an Australian server. I've found their speed to be reliable so I don't really turn it off anymore.
They're fairly reliable.
They had some security issues which they sat on for way too long before going public.
If you're just after something to hide torrenting, watch/buy stuff in other countries, this is good.
IMHO using a VPN company for day to day stuff is pretty foolish.
@[Deactivated]: I've been for a month in Australia and I'm worried about torrenting. Do you really need a vpn for that here? I lived here for a year in 2014 and a friend downloaded a movie from my house (I was using tpg at the time) and i got a letter from them related to this. Is that still a thing here, or are everyone just being extra careful?

Their software (both Windows and Android) have problems when connecting from China, but if you e-mail support they'll walk you through how to access their servers through OpenVPN. They don't put this publicly so potential customers won't find out…
Bonus tedium, still kind of buggy (it randomly just times out like every 10 mins, you have to do a full re-connect), but speed is very respectable.

@xrailgun: The great firewall is very, very good at detecting VPN connections, and killing them - for obvious reasons. There was a good article a while back about sneaking some shadowsocks proxy the the GFW.

PIA has been good to me for a long time. This is tempting to jump ship
IME Nord is signifcantly slower.
Also have a worse record than PIA as far as security which may or may not be something you consider important.
Never had speed issues with Nord and their recent security issue was a bit overblown.
PIA is now owned by Kape Tech which has a history of making malware, so that's also another thing to consider.

NordVPN is not very good in China at the moment. Have to use OpenVPN to connect and had to change servers almost daily until 2 weeks ago.
Looks like a great deal. But only need VPN when visiting China and ExpressVPN has been great in the past, would stick with what works.
YMMV with this deal. Mine didn't track the last time this deal came up (did everything correctly), good part I is ended up being refunded a couple of dollars more than I paid due to currency fluctuation during the 30-day trial, bad part is I'm now not a new customer.

Hey, I've installed the NordVPN app onto my 2015 bravia, the bloody app says 'You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. Please turn off ….'. I've tried signing out, restarting the app (although may have to do a forced close?), still no good.
I'd chromecast from phone or notebook but the jolly cast button isn't even there either ffs…

I don't mean to highjack this thread. However, I created a support ticket yesterday when I purchased NordVPN. I paid around $190AUD and I received an email that indicating I will get $51.63 in a few months. When I purchased there was 75% cashback going, now there is 90%. Regardless, neither of these equates to $51.63AUD. I have logged into my Cashrewards account and nothing has changed.

I have been waiting for this since I missed last Surshark deal. So, this is a bonus for me that I'm getting Nordvpn. I have paid $209 since I wanted to select Australia and pay the VAT. I have got cashback of $165. So, that's effectively $44 for 3 years. Not bad for a guy who wants to have the vpn option handy but doesn't use it often.
Once I'm are member, I have got 24x7 live chat support and have asked them what's the big deal about VAT. The representative told you can select your country for compliance otherwise it doesn't matter and Nordvpn itself doesn't track where you are purchasing from etc.

Update: My speeds without vpn are 115Mbps (download) and 18Mbps (upload). With vpn these numbers have changed to 55Mbps (download) and 5-10Mbps (upload) based on multiple tests.
I have also observed that the lower your connection speed is, the slighter the difference. For example, I was using Belong wifi in the morning that had 39Mbps download and it dropped to 31Mbps after connecting to vpn whereas now I'm connected to Boost mobile network with 115Mbps and dropped to 55Mbps. Wondering if 55Mbps is the cap for NordVPN
No cap and You should only lose about 3mbps. i normally get 94mbps down and with nordvpn on i get 91mbps down. never drops out either.
