this is going to end bad…

    its now 389 on kogan…

    • +1

+1 ….they already updated their website.

Either way, theres no way they will let it go for free… Maybe they'll give the first person who contacts them about it something but it's not like they have a box that says "click here if you've seen it cheaper" lol

Can this actually be classified as a deal? Lol

    • +1

me thinks they will keep altering their prices

      • Jb offers free shipping on their tvs, so its already cheaper than Kogan. Kogan just matching by $1 doesnt make them cheaper. because u wud be about $30 better off from JB.

Soniq's have better reputation than Kogans here.

If JB's advertises their price of tvs by linking to an "equivalent" Kogan tv and then saying
THE PRICE OF THIS TV IS THE PRICE OF THIS KOGAN TV MINUS 1 CENT.

That way no matter how low kogan drops it, they will always be lower. Trade practices issues shudnt matter becauseany idiot can subtract 1 cent from a number. You jsut have to click on a link and do some maths.

  • darn was to slow, 11:29am and they lowered the price -_-

  • Yeah, they've altered their prices - but clause 5f will also get you - the JB one doesn't have a PVR in it, so it wouldn't be the same.

    • You can do USB recording with the one from JB, is that what they mean PVR?

  • -2

Went to the JB site…has 2 TV's on it..but the Soniq is only a LCD TV, not a LED unit. Cheapest 32" LED I saw was a hiSense at $481, and no PVR… Happy to be corrected !

    • The link above is LED with USB recording.

    • Yes it is LED. Actually, Rebmit2875 has submitted the wrong link. The JB TV is actually a 100Hz, not a 50Hz like the Kogan, so it gets compared against http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/kogan-full-hd-led-32-hd-led-tv-…

Still… Kogan has set their price for their 32" 100Hz FHD at $298 just to beat JB by $1 LOL

      • $398 not $298.

      • Don't know why someone would want to buy the Kogan instead of the JB Soniq, since you have to pay for delivery on top of that.
Oh yeah, oops, 398 not 298 haha

  • Darnit!!!

    kogan is funny.

They really need to hire someone who know more about the business.
I have seen them do several stupid things already.
every time they end up changing stuff on their website, embarrassing themselves and getting worse names.

Someday some parent would teach the children…
Kids, think before you act, don't be kogan!

    • +1

I think you are missing very important point here – it’s all about the hype, media and exposure. If Kogan wouldn’t do all these deals - no one will ever know about the brand or its products. Try it for yourself: Google “kogan to honour”.

I think he's missing grammar lessons.

        • +9

I thought I could be excused as a non-native english speaker.
I actually tried hard to avoid grammar mistakes.
your comment makes me really uncomfortable.

          Hero

  • nice try anyway

  • +2

I don't know why anyone would buy anything Kogan. What a stupid title Free TV!!

  • +12

Kogan should be banned from here because of this stunt, giving it away once free then changing the price, is just a stunt!!!

  • +3

What an idiot kogan is. He can't just keep changing prices while claiming to have the lowest price around. He better send me a free tv or i'm goin to the accc

    • +1

how else do u get the lowest price if u dont change prices lol?
the accc wont do anything because forcing prices down across different stores is the whole point of good COMPETITION!

  • +6

    FREE* TV

    • -> In the rare event that they actually give one away to anyone, the T&Cs state you then have to pay for shipping!!

    Aaah Kogan… reliably dodgy…

    • Everytime I see the name Kogan I can't help picture a Bogan ! ?
The quality would most likely go with the name.
Dont forget the other cheapies around like Vivo and DSE tv's guys, they're better than Soniq & Kogan IMO.

It'd be amusing if JB and HN were to take Kogan up on this offer and start a race to the bottom to see how many TVs Kogan can either give away or sell at far less than they would want to. All they'd need to do is provide a link to the Kogan offer and keep dropping their prices… Wonder who'd run out of money first.

  • Reminds me of Flight Centre's guarantee - they'll be the competitors' fare by $1 or you fly for free. Why would they not match the competitors' prices anyway?

  • How much is shipping anyways

  • +1

Shouldn't the JB/HN price have the postage fee added to make it a fair comparison?

It's not like you can't fit a 32" TV in most cars.

    • JB doesn't charge for shipping…

    • I'd be more surprised if you couldn't fit a 32" in a car, back seat works fine in nearly all popular cars

  • +2

To be fair the styling of the Kogan looks nicer than the Soniq.

The kogan looks like a previous model Samsung with the droop in the middle of the bezel, where as the Soniq looks like a cheap and nasty 3yr old model.

    • +7

yeh my "ePhone" from china with a fake operating system, and 0.5ghz processor "Looks" like an iphone so its gotta be better than those cheap nasty android fones.

  • @rebmit2875
    Any word from Kogan???

  • No response to my email to kogan so far

  • +1

I got an automated response email saying:
"Thank you for your email. Your submission has been received and will be evaluated within 24 hours. Kindest Regards, The Kogan Team"

the kogan site says the offer is currently open. The terms and conditions say that you need to provide links or screenshots of the price being cheaper on the same date. The links in the original post prove that the jb TV was cheaper than the kogan this morning.

  • It’s funny how Kogan says this:
“Some even produce a supposed price match guarantee where they will “match the price” or “beat it by 5%” if you see it cheaper. Aussie shoppers know these type of claims are empty – all the retailer is agreeing to do is to charge the market price if a smart customer goes to the effort of proving that their prices are a rip-off. ”

I think Ruslan forget about this page though:
    http://www.kogan.com.au/pricematch/

  • has no one researched any other sized tv?

    • Quite possibly already done so and if applicable, claim lodged with Kogan. You would want to keep your card close to your chest and not leak this out over here for them to read and act by lowering their prices before they process your claim.

  • its on aca tonight!! so did anyone take it up?
we should post this on aca good news!!

  • So this was all just a stunt to get the community to do the work for him and source him with cheaper prices so he knew what to beat?

  • I purchased the 100hz version of the 32 inch TV on Sunday and received an email from Kogan yesterday telling me it had been "oversold" and they would no longer be able to supply it to me (nor supply an equivalent spec TV at a later date). Its also now discontinued… hmmmm. Kogan states my options are either a full refund, or downgrade to the 50hz model and receive $1 refund, or 5% off another TV that is not on sale. None of which sound appealing considering the specs and price of the TV I actually ordered and paid for.

Anyone else in the same boat? When did you order?

    • Refund sounds decent. Take it bro

      • see if officeworks will pricematch the refund and beat it by 5%…
        seriously though…
yeah pretty dodgy, 5% not on sale TVs, considering if you wait for a sale, it will probably be more than 5%

      • +1

A refund is a solution yes, just not a good outcome for me. You have to ask the question though, how does a company such as Kogan whose primary method of sale is a website, not have a stock control system in place that can handle realtime stock level management (when their system stated that the item was actually in stock when I ordered)? Its not just me who missed out either, there are two other ozbargain members over at the Soniq thread who had the same email from Kogan.
