Wireless Mechanical Keyboard for Mac's

Hi guys,
Just looking for some recommendations/advice on what wireless mechanical keyboards (that are Mac friendly) are out there. I would prefer a slim-line thin keyboard.
I have the new 16" Macbook Pro, and recently got a USB-C monitor to connect to so I am on the hunt for a wireless mechanical keyboard that has the Mac keyboard layout.

I know there is the Apple Magic Keyboard or even the Satechi one, but I want to see if there are other decent keyboards out there with the mechanical switches - we all know they are way nicer to type on.

I was initially interested in the Keychron K1 but I can't seem to find that in Australia anywhere, not sure if they've stopped making it or not. This is the kind of design I am looking for though: mechanical, slim, Mac layout, wireless, backlit.

Let me know what you got or what you recommend.

Cheers.

  • If you can afford it and want to import one.

    • Hi there Hithere,
Yeah I had seen that one, but it's $200+ which wasn't ideal. Thanks though!

  • Buy from amazon?
    https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Ultra-Thin-Wireless-Bluetoot…

There will be the currency conversion markup, but you're in the apple ecosystem so you're used to it.

    • Thanks for that!
Hadn't actually seen this, it's something to keep in mind.
I just checked the Aus Amazon and it wasn't available.

If no other alternatives present themselves, I may have to.

  • Azio make a wireless one:

    Or wired, with backlighting:

If I were a Mac purist, that's the one Id be buying.

Once you're in Apple-territory, expect to pay a little more premium!

    • Thanks! I havent heard of this brand before.

  • Steelseries and Razer support Mac natively
other brands tend to be mac 'friendly" but not native

  • Mwave had the Keychron K2 recently. Otherwise, I bought mine from Keychron directly on Black Friday for ~130 shipped I think?

    • Yeah wow, that is a decent price.
How are you finding the K2?

      • I like it, when gaming I notice a tiny bit of latency compared to wired. Otherwise, no complaints and I'm going to keep it for a while.

        • How do you find the angle? It looked quite high at the front. I've seen photos and almost looks like you need a wrist rest or something.
That was the main reason I was looking at the K1, it's much more slimline.

          • @JoKing: It took a few days to get used to, but I don't notice it anymore. I will probably get a wrist rest in the future. I've wanted one for a while anyway, it's not just because of they Keychron.

  • I use logitech K750-mac which is solar powered from my living room, any light will do!

  • well it seems like Keychron is indeed the way to go for Macs!

    • +1

I ended up getting a secondhand Apple Magic Keyboard very cheap and I have to say, I really like it. It's the best keyboard for typing I have ever felt, I can fly through the words.

It also helps how compatible it is, every shortcut button works seamlessly and I hardly ever charge it.

      • for as long as they work they are great yes!

I've got a full-sized wired Apple Keyboard, and it feels quite nice yes!

then without any particular reason it stopped registering Z key - and apparently it is quite common for Apple keyboards (and they are not exactly service-able)
