  • Well to be fair, Indonesia is still free of Corona virus, unlike Singapore.

    • +1

Either civilisation would have collapsed, or we would have developed a vaccine and treatments, or those of us who were left would have gained natural immunity, by June 2021.

      • Make sure you pay with a credit card that allows easy chargebacks just in case Carnival Corporation goes bust in the meantime.

        • +1

There are time limits on making a chargeback claim. Travel insurance will offer a more suitable cover.

          • +1

@alvian: Forget about travel insurance. None of them covers any liability arising due to Corona virus.

            • +3

@Gorodemon: Some travel insurance policies cover insolvency, which was what toasty was worried about. You seemed fixated by COVID-19. Do you know that MERS has a mortality rate of 36% and Ebola 90%? Are you equally concerned with these infectious diseases?

              • +3

@alvian: Yes, I personally always take out travel insurance and I’d definitely check for insolvency cover if I was going to book any cruise at the moment.

I’ve successfully requested a chargeback twice due to cancelled flights. I went with chargebacks because if I’d made claims on the insurance policies I would have been charged the excess fee whereas the chargebacks were free.

              • @alvian: It's been 20 years since ebola has even come close to a "90% mortality rate" Nowadays it's about 50%. We are right to be concerned due to the sheer amount of people infected, it's incubation period, and how many people on average that a person with the virus infects (which is at about 2.5 at the moment)

          • @alvian: There are time limits but at least with VISA they are pretty reasonable:

Chargeback time limits associated with VCR 13.1 can change if the merchandise or services were expected to be provided after the transaction processing date. For example, the purchase could be for plane tickets that would be used months after the initial transaction. Which means the dispute may be issued:

            • 120 calendar days from the last date the cardholder expected to receive merchandise or services.

            • 120 calendar days from the date the cardholder was told that the merchandise or services won’t be provided.

            • The dispute cannot exceed 540 calendar days from the transaction processing date.

Nothing such as immunity from virus as it always mutates.

        • +2

You are gravely mistaken. It depends on the type of viruses. For examples, you gain lifetime immunity if you survived smallpox, measles, etc. And persons who were infected by cowpox became immune to smallpox too. John Fewster observed this in 1768 which subsequently led to the discovery of vaccination.

On the other hand, no useful permanent vaccine has been developed, and no natural immunity has evolved against highly mutating viruses like HIV, influenza and parainfluenza viruses.

  • Only two bonus nights?
