Speakers Doesn't Play Voices

Installed a new Samsung tv and connected my speakers and subwoofer with a pioneer receiver. However, it doesn't always work. Some TV channels require full volume to hear anything whilst others doesn't play voices. It plays sound effects and music. Same with Disney+, no talking.

How do I fix this?

Thanks

Do you have a centre speaker? If not, your receiver being set to a surround sound mode is the issue. Put it in plain old stereo and it will work. Or just fit a centre speaker.

    • Stereo worked! Thanks a lot! Unfortunately my centre speaker doesn't work though.

      • All good mate 👍 I'd recommend getting a new one if it's the speaker, a centre speaker is excellent.

        • Yep will do! It's a shame because we never even used it haha, tried recently though and it didn't work

          • @[Deactivated]: Assuming it's not a plug in one and instead the old poke the wires into the spring loaded hole type you may have the wires for the centre speaker mixed up.

            • @apsilon: I've tried all combinations and none of them worked

              • @[Deactivated]: Replace a working speaker with the centre speaker and see if you hear sound. If not, it's broken

                • @spackbace: Sorry for the late reply, I thought I replied but it didn't send. Thanks for the suggestion! Surprisingly connecting it to the left speaker cable works! So it's probably something wrong with the centre speaker input on the receiver? Or it could be the cable, I'll try changing the cable

Sounds like there's something wrong with your "channels" setup.

Probably a mismatch in the output of your tv and the input of your receiver/speakers.

    • Thanks, putting it in stereo fixed it

  • HD sound on TV is vastly different to SD. It takes a good amp to put out great sound for the HD, SD will work from a tin can on the end of a bit of string.
