Best Place to Buy American Foods - Such as 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter'?

Hi all.

I'm trying to get creative with managing my calorie intake, and so many awesome YouTube videos of recipes are done by Americans, using their food hacks such as the non butter spray, sugar free sauces and this and that, lots of things we can't find in our supermarkets.

I'm wondering what the most reliable and cost effective online shop is to purchase these products from, or if anyone could share their experiences.

Thanks.

If you are in Melbourne their shop is in Moorabbin.

    • Thank you, I'll check them out.
I'm in griffith, NSW. Long drive from melb, unfortunately!

      • they do post.

        • Unfortunately they don't have the sorts of things i'm after. Definitely look damn delicious though

          • @CustardShot: Darn…. Isn't what you're after, just Nuttelex under a different name? aka butter that isn't really butter?

            • @JimmyF: Nah, the idea was to get a substitute which is virtually calorie free :)

      • Sydney Store:
        531 Burwood Rd
        Belmore, NSW, 2192.

They do Australia-wide shipping if the store isn't convenient.
I eat American food as an indulgence, it is generally the last thing I would think of for "healthy eating" or "calorie control".

They don't import every product, as our import restrictions can be severely limiting. For example, you cannot import Cheez Whiz because it contains milk products. ICBINB doesn't have milk in it, but is made using various oils, being lower in fat than regular margarine. I'm not sure if it is restricted from import, or if it isn't worth bringing in (refrigeration vs cost etc.).

Sydney store has closed down (or is in process of closing)

And I can definitely tell you that "I can't Believe it's not butter" is pretty damn good. Practically grew up on the stuff. However, I thought the prevailing notion now is that butter substitutes are now considered worse for you than the real thing?

Yeah, now they're considered much worse for you. Like, if it's not real butter then it's margarine which means it's a blend of vegge oils and other things that probably aren't good for you.

      • yeah, that's what I thought too… But memories… A while later, our family switched to Country Crock which was heads and shoulders even better. That stuff really blew my mind as a kid.

was heads and shoulders even better

          It was shampoo??

    • Where can I buy it? It's not on usafoods.com.au

  • Costco

  • Try the uk stores for I can’t believe it’s not butter (changed to I can’t believe it’s so good in the UK a couple of years ago). although as above doubt it’s cost effective to import, and it’s just margarine isn’t it? There’ll be Aussie equivalents.

  • It's not an American product. It was made by Unilever a British/dutch company and was sold to another Dutch company called Upfield a couple of years back. They also make Country Crock and Flora amongst others.

    • Ah ok, thanks for that. Well, regardless of where it originated, it appears I can't get it anyway.

  • I hope you live in Melbourne because Sydney, in all of it's infinite wisdom, closed their USA foods store down. The only place to get it is in glorious Melbourne.
