Costco Online Shopping Has Commenced

Received an email advising that online shopping has arrived at Costco.
A quick look suggests that some items are available to non-members, whilst other items show a 'member exclusive' tag and the price is hidden.

Interestingly, sizes (such as shirts) are showing in imperial, not metric.

Also, most of the items are there yet…the entire grocery section is empty.

They should have done more prep before sending that e-mailer, a tad disappointing to see the half cooked online inventory

    • Yeah, there's A LOT of stuff missing compared to what's available in store. Also interesting choice for them to include the price of shipping in every item. A lot of people are going to get quite the shock when they see the prices.

  • Well it is like when they send us the coupons via email. You click on the link to see the coupons and they are not ready yet.

  • Think trial of this has been running in QLD for last few months and they have now expanded to other states.
Note QLD/SA no liquor sales by home delivery

Terms and Conditions: While stocks last. No rainchecks. Liquor is not available in QLD and SA locations. Price, availability and terms of product(s) are subject to change without notice. If you are purchasing these product(s) as a member, Costco is under obligation to supply products that you have purchased that are in conformity with our Member Privileges and Conditions.

Not all products sold on costco.com.au are available at your local Costco warehouse. Products sold online may have different pricing than the same products sold at your local Costco warehouse due to shipping and handling fees charged for delivery.

Sweet, anyone looking for a Tennis Court?

    • +4

Thanks for that… was waiting for a sale…. bought 2

    • Lol at being able to choose a colour..

Some items appear to be a lot more expensive online.

    Kirkland Signature Vitamin C 1000mg
    Online - $29.49 Instore - $21.49

Kirkland Signature Pecan Nut Halves 907g
    Online - $29.99 Instore - $18.99

I was at Costco Docklands on Monday (10/02) which is where I got the instore prices

    • It cause they factor in "Delivery Charges" into the prices.

      • +1

Oops, my bad. I didn't see that at first. Thanks for the heads up

      • +4

So should I then put everything in separately to ensure they've all got delivery separately?
The more you buy, the more ripped off you get.

    • Check out the conditions (posted by jimbobaus above)

Cheers @GGH57 totally missed that at first

      • so is it double dipping on delivery charges?
shouldn't they apply delivery and handling at the end for the whole cart?

        • +1

It isn't double dipping; it is just how they have chosen to price items. No different to some online retailers who have "free delivery"; they must have factored in shipping costs into the price of each item as they don't know what each purchase will consist of.

        • Double dipping is under quoting it. The more you buy the more they dip.

          • @netjock: yea, that's my understanding.
so for example Kirkland Vit C.
If you buy one online, you pay $8 for the delivery fee.

If you buy 10, you pay $80 more for the delivery.

            • @Bargain80: Your options are:
              - Buy it online from Costco at the advertised price (incl. delivery)
              - Buy it in-store from Costco at a lower price; fill up your vehicle while you are there (at a discounted cost).
              - Buy it somewhere else; online or in-store

It is only 'double dipping' if you let it happen.

              Your choice.

              • @GG57: no shit Sherlock
we all know that but that's not the topic os the discussion.

                • @Bargain80: No, the pricing inclusive of delivery is very specifically the topic in this sub-thread.

            • @Bargain80: Potentially a business opportunity there. NotCostCoDirectForLess

$11 delivery for 907g of pecan nuts does seem excessive though!

      • It is Australia. $5 of that is HS&E, public liability and there is even before they rolled into the drive way. Driver gets $3.

  • Looks like prices has delivery factored into it already

    Trolley Jack Example:

Also Instant Rebate aren't factored into the price.

EDIT from the T&Cs: Products sold online may have different pricing than the same products sold at your local Costco warehouse due to shipping and handling fees charged for delivery.

Don't think they've though the delivery through properly. The included shipping is a showstopper - buy 5x items and you get hit with 5x shipping charges with no discounting or free shipping over a certain amount (like every other retailer).

….and that's on top of the $55 joining fee.

Will be sticking with amazon prime

    • Sure, every online deal, from all sellers, needs to be assessed inclusive of shipping for the buyer to ascertain if it is a 'deal' or not.

I'm noticing a few people posting deals from Costco now, based on the online pricing (inclusive of shipping), so I suppose it is dependant on the specific item(s).

  • I've never stepped foot in a Costco before. Seems like they're pretty mediocre prices.

    • You are looking at the online prices with shipping included. If the item was big enough I would get it shipped but most things I buy in store. You can get some good discounts in the scratch and dent area,

    • You don't go to Costco for their prices. You go to Costco because they sell good products that are not four in other supermarkets.

      • Australian food?

      • Costco does carry some stock that is not, generally, found here.

  • Merged from Costco Online Is Definitely Not Cheap

I received the email from Costco today saying that Online Store is ready.

This is good news. I can now do the price check online without going into the store.

After I logged in, I found that lots of products are not available online (yet). No gaming consoles, not sure why.

Then I came across this product:

    Denali 380L Storage Box
    Item #51469

    $5,699.99

It's listed for almost $5700 for a plastic storage box. Seriously?

Seems like good value. What is your concern?

      • I'm sure it's temporary placeholders as site just went live today.

Not sure many CostCo shoppers are opting for $89,999.99 rings….

        • It is a one-of-a-kind engagement ring. Who knows…

        • I think they are all going for the 10ct Diamond option instead for $799,999.00

    • The online store includes delivery, it may not be the same in store. Besides, I like to look at the scratch and dent area.

    • It’s 299 elsewhere. It looks like there are going to be some teething issues…. time to find some more positive pricing anomalies

    • Gotta be a typo. They have a 570L one for $339. I'm sure there will be some ok stuff on there. Maybe will take a little bit to get up to speed. Amazon took a little while.

    • Lol infobank

    • Sounds like a good bargain

    • +1

      It's now $260.

    • Price on the storage box has been corrected to $259.99. I wonder when the first broden opportunity will appear….

They have killer prices on coffins though

anybody having issues with registering for online account? I have a compnay account- triued to use that name and tried my own - cant seem to get it to work…also cant fill out the city and postcode boxes- stay greyed out??

    • answering own question- DO NOT try to type whole address- use "find address" at the bottom first. This opens the fields, then type it all in the :find address again" -

    • Yes, I'm having the exact same problem. I put my name and membership number in and hit validate and it says it can't validate and to contact customer assistance. I contacted customer assistance and they said it worked fine for them. I have tried on multiple browsers and multiple PC's - and my phone. The whole online site seems pretty flaky to me.

    • lmaooo MOQ is 20- chickens ffs

  • Is it worth it?

  • Can they home deliver 60 litres of Diesel a week?

    • If they could home deliver that, I would only need 50 litres/week.

  • Can we get Costco on pricehipster now?

Edit: how do you quote a member so they get a notification? I think Jazoom is the creator of price hipster.

Hi Herbse. It sounds like it's a bit of a mess at the moment so maybe when they've got things sorted a bit I'll see what I can do. :-)

I'm currently working on some other exciting improvements to Price Hipster.

  • Ringwood Costco had free Costco Tote Bags on offer for members who signed up on the day.. was anyone successful?
