Spreets - I want refund for my voucher cause the business is closed. (Trademark Cafe)

The business website doesn't work and the phone is disconnected.

I submitted a request on the spreets website on the 24th Aug and it was closed on the 25th Aug.
with no reply.

Do you just hire ppl to click close on your requests so you dont have to deal with any customers or are your reps just too lazy to investigate the businesses???

As far as I'm concerned, I can't contact the business in anyways hence they are deemed to have closed down.
therefore is not able to honor the voucher. Hence I want a refund for the voucher.

In case anyone from spreets is reading my "Request #103796"

    • thanks neil, will do

  • Odd another business closure with a Spreets deal.

I got the Burgerman deal trough Spreets, and Burgerman was not contactable by phone, i visited the shop which was up for lease or sale, but Spreets was very good, and credited my account with the purchase price of the voucher.

Its not Spreets fault that a business closes, and spreets cant possibly have anything to do with another business operating or not, although it can be very frustrating.

    • That's true but I'm pissed off they closed my inquiry on their forum with no reply.
Obviously my problem was not resolved as that's what it says when they closed my inquiry.

the voucher only has 3 months expiry and I'm trying to book half way through, i dont think i waited too long and its within their condition to book a months piror to expiry, but it's a little hard when I have no way in hell to contact the business.

      • Hi Finance, your support request #103796 was closed only because our team had replied to your request #103795 offering a solution. If you could reply to their email from 6 days ago and share your details, they will be able to process refunds/credits for you. Sorry about any confusion. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Hey guys, would anybody also be prepared to post their request/incident number?
I'm currently pursuing a similar request (#103736: business not answering phones/bookings for services sold on spreets). Initially Spreets put up a bit of a smokescreen (business owners had personal issues, busy, yada yada) and optimistically told me to keep trying (in the last 5 days of a six month deal).

    I said "Yeah; Nah."

Wondering if we should (or have?) start a thread as a reference base to build some momentum so that others don't have to work so hard.

Hi MattyD, that won't be necessary. I can see that your request # is already with the refunds team. It takes 5-7 working days for a refund to be processed and for the $$ to be available in your account. The team will update you by tomorrow, if not earlier with the transaction details. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

      • Thank you Spreetssupport, it is indeed looking like the outcome I'd hoped for.

I'd like to add that I don't hold Spreets at fault for how the business behaved. Except for a few bad apples this is the most exciting business model I've seen in years.

And since businesses are built on reputation and referral, I'd have no problems using or recommending Spreets again based on this outcome and previous good experiences.

  • I got a refund from Spreets because a business had actually closed down before my voucher expired.
In this case Spreets did reverse the transaction on my credit card.

That's always a risk when you prepay for a voucher with long expiry. The shop might just close one day before you even use it! I remember when Borders were in receivership, they didn't honour their gift card. My mate actually had gift card from last Christmas that became totally useless. Hopefully these deal websites will do good by their customers.

  • IMO the majority of companies on Spreets are close to bankruptcy so it doesn't surprise me.

It gives me very little incentive to buy any vouchers….

Remind me of this TechCrunch article, scroll all the way down to "Hacking Groupon"

How would you exploit an overpriced loan? Don't pay it back.

Not surprised that there are business exploiting this. Sell big discount coupon, get the cash from group-buy site from the coupons sold, and close business before they can be redeemed…
