gee that's cheap.
:)
How does the power over ethernet (POE) work on this? Does this phone operate without needing a DC adaptor - assuming a standard router/switch is used? If yes, what is the DC adaptor for?
I've gone with ATA + cordless phone option so far. Corded phones are more for office I think…
You need a special switch to use POE.
The DC adapter is for when you don't have one.
just for the case:
If your network is not PoE (Power over Ethernet) enabled then you will require an external power adapter before you can use the VoIP Phone
What is the cost of the power adapter?
The power adapter is included in the deal.
But, it works best with POE enabled network (so you don't need to use the AC adapter)… Most homes won't have POE enabled network though.
By comparison you can get a basic Cisco handset on ebay for $35
where? can you give me a link please, sounds tempting!
ye~plz show me the link
Please Help. Can I attach this phone to my ADSL2+ modem (no VOIP) or do I need VOIP adapter? Are there any phones, which dont need VOIP adapter? Cheers
You don't need a ADSL modem with VOIP built in, all you need is an internet connection. This handset connects directly to a SIP provider e.g. mynetfone, pennytel etc. Looks like a pretty easy setup too - http://media.netcomm.com.au/public/assets/pdf_file/0013/5035…
Actually surprised this deal hasn't attracted more votes, great deal IMHO. Question for the rep, where can I get a headset for these phones and how much are they (approx)? Do these phones use a generic headset or do they have to be Netcom branded?
simple reasons : common goods and many competitions.
there are alternative SIP handsets out there on the market at lower price (and works just as good).
many people still prefer ATA + cordless phone over the build-in VOIP deskphone.
I'd much prefer a SIP phone than an ATA, I've had compatibility issues between various phones and ATA's, but that's a personal preference I guess. Do you have an example of a lower priced SIP phone? I have been on the lookout for cheap SIP phone for a long time and this is the first I've seen.
sure, this phone can use a generic headset for phone( RJ11 connection not normal computer headset).but we don't sell this kind of headset, so I cannot support you a price. sry.
What an ugly coloured phone, lol.
I'll stick with my cisco :)
