Looking for Cheap Inkjet Printer to Print Mainly in Mono That Uses No Yellow/Blue/Red

Hi everyone

I am looking for a cheap inkjet printer. I am loathe to buy a laser printer as the last couple of week have been the first times in about 2 years I have needed a printer as I print mainly at work, but being crook has prevented that. Instead I have had to rely on a damn officeworks print card.

I am after one I can turn off yellow/blue/red, the last printer I have years ago ran out of yellow despite me printing only in mono, and for that printer, if one cartridge was empty, the whole unit would not work.

So one that does not stop printing altogether should a colour run out is also preferable. But understandably no printer specs will tell you this.

So any recommendations, I am looking to spend as little as possible.

    I have worked in copier/printer industry for 35 years. You're best off to buy an entry level Brother mono LASER printer - dont buy an inkjet.
    They're slow, expensive to refill and unreliable. Laser is much better - something like this

      Came here to say the same thing. If it's just mono colour printing, go with a mono laser printer. Toner will last soooo much longer and be so much cheaper than an inkjet.

    This printer only prints in mono - does not do colour

    If you're not printing often, inkjet printers tend to suffer from print heads drying up. Laser is more reliable in this regard.

    Get second hand brother laser printer.

    I was in your exact situation and I bought a 2nd brother laser printer for $15 off gumtree. Used it maybe 5 times in its first 3 years. That's like $5 per page. Fortunately it get used significantly more lately. Generic toner on eBay is very cheap and good enough. No issue with the printer whatsoever.

    It seems like Brother are the cheap ones, but they have different models in different stores! Anyone have this Big W one? Thoughts?
