  • What is the original price?

    • -1

Why is that automatically relevant? If the wine lives up to its rating then it’s a good price. Original price doesn’t really need to come into it. Anyway, it’s sold out.

      • +1

It’s not automatically relevant but it’s a valid question to give ozbargainers a reference point as to what the $ saving might be for this wine, especially for those who might not know a great deal about this wine / varietal / winery / region / vintage, and so might be considering to buy it just because it was posted as a deal. So yes, it does come into it, even though it might not be a consideration for everyone.

Yes there are some items for which the original price doesn’t matter and that even posting at RRP will get 100s of + votes eg when the NES mini consoles came out and were sold out everywhere, or when someone finds a bottle of Yamazaki on ‘sale’. But this isn’t one of those wines where everyone knows about it.

Anyway all moot now given it’s sold out. FWIW you found a great deal, especially when coupled with the referral code. Hope it comes back so I can pick up a case too.

        • 'FWIW you found a great deal'

That is exactly the point - it's a great deal, and the original price has nothing to do with that.

RRP's on wine are often grossly inflated, and many wines are 'permanently' on sale, just reinforcing that RRP's have little relevance.
