  thanks mate, i might try the file from other site that doesn't have password. i got trick last night, got virus on my pc already, takes me 3 hrs to scan my pc to remove the virus.

Unless you or your friend set it, I'm thinking its unlikely you will be successful very quickly.

A lot of RAR passwords are over 8 characters which means it will likely take too long to brute force the password.

You never know though, it might be a dictionary word, worth a try!

If you got the file from usenet, check the associated posts, as they often have the PW listed. (search <filename> password). I usually do that before I grab stuff from obscure posters as they often PW protect their files).
