How do you decide on the ride share/cab for travel?

I'm asking the (best) and most value conscious community in Australia for advice regarding their airport travel decisions. Hoping you can help me out with your two cents. When you travel interstate or overseas with Uber/Lyft/Didi or Cabs, what influences where you choose and made you settle on a decision?

  1. Price
  2. Availability
  3. Reviews
  4. Ranking on Google?
  5. Recommendation
  6. Other?

I use cheapest option to/from airport available. Most of the time it's public transport.

I use what is available; certain countries have different rideshare apps available. Asia = usually Grab, In Europe/North America = Uber. Firstly, it is generally cheaper but I enjoy the convenience (ie pickup/destination entered, not needing to communicate with driver in non-english).

  • Ola is expanding at the moment and runs many promotions (20% discount off your ride etc), and in general they are cheaper than Uber.

I rarely take cabs these days because their service is generally not great (eg. not knowing the roads and not wanting to turn on GPS, aircon most of the time is off and not even offering to turn them on, and they drive like a BMW/Camry drivers).

    • and they drive like a BMW/Camry drivers

As opposed to who? People with turbochargers and big engines?
Err….lots of people buy Camry from all parts of the world.

As opposed to normal drivers? It might be a generalisation, but that's just my experience quite recently.

  • If I travel for work I usualy chose something cost effective - eg if by myself train from airport to CBD (if in a group it is cheaper to taxi - as I find getting Uber from airports is a pain as you have to wait or go to some obscure part of the airport).

  • How much advertising they shove down my throat. E.g. I have blacklisted DiDi for the amount of advertising they have.
