mrmrmr mentioned that his phone screen had a green tint when viewed on an angle. Honestly for myself, it was probably the first thing I noticed when I turned on my phone, but I brushed it aside, as I couldn't find anything specific to the i9100 on Google, only for the i9000 Galaxy, which used the pentile AMOLED display (double green subpixels). But now that mrmrmr else mentioned that local stock doesn't have this problem, I was wondering what we should do? Is it possible our phones don't actually have Super AMOLED Plus displays, but the Super AMOLED displays similar to the ones used in the i9000? Thoughts?
Greent tinge/tint on Galaxy S2 phones from SS
Comments
The green tinge will go away as the green elements become less bright with use.
hey wish i'd seen this thread before. was thinking i was the only one. to be honest i struggled to understand what that post was talking about afurotsu :P
i'll post some pics up of my phone, i bought 2, so its easy to compare the differences.

What do you guys think?
Is this normal?Look exactly the same front on, but on any angle appears green.
Mostly only noticeable with lighter colours.
Not sure if it is something that SS would replace under warranty.Found this thread also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127649&pag…
Yeah, mine looks very similar to the one on the right, maybe even more green. Of course, can't say for sure, since we aren't working with a colour corrected workflow here (camera white balance, monitor white balance etc).
Afruotsu's link was extremely informative, I just wish someone did something with that information, I've been looking for ways to colour correct since the moment I got my phone.
@mrmrmr
Haha yeah, I think majority of ozbargainers don't venture into the forum much, at least I don't I wanted to post in the SS i9100 thread, but missed out by a few hours (deal posts get locked when older than 120 days IIRC), and your profile contact page is locked by default so I had no way of contacting you.Yeah it was closed when I posted too, I asked the mods to open it for me so I could post. Guess they didn't leave it open for long :-(
Maybe should get them to open it again so we can post a link to this post.
Do you think its worth trying to do a warranty claim? Not sure I dare try my luck with ss again. And I suppose the phone is perfect in every other way. It is pretty annoying thoughHm, might be good to post a link to this thread. But yeah, SS service is a real turn off.
deal posts get locked when older than 120 days IIRC.
Deal posts actually get locked if older than 45 days. However there was a recent change that it would only be locked if
- Older than 45 days, AND
- No comment has been made for the last 14 days
So it is now possible to prevent a deal post from locked indefinitely.
The SGS 2 I got from tandomobile.com was also plagued with a yellow tint problem but only on the left side and at low brightness levels.
It's been 2 weeks since I sent my phone back and they are still 'processing' my return. But it's not as bad as the warranty return for my earphones which has taken 1 month + and it seems to be missing in the mail.
My point is that most companies are slow with warranty returns probably because they don't get anything out of it.Thought I'd mention I did end up sending the phone back to SS. Took them a month but the phone I got back doesn't have the green tint problem. Much happier with it.
Mine is certainly Super AMOLED + (was able to compare with a SGS1) from the same SS deal.
No green tinge.
I'm pretty sure all AMOLED displays are Pentile matrix displays… The Green OLED technology isn't as bright as the Red or Blue (I think).
EDIT: I stand corrected…
