Chinese made switches "designed for security surveillance purposes"

Pretty sure they're designed for the Chinese to surveil you.

Tenda have been caught out with backdoors before

    • do you have a Link? I was contemplating their mesh device but not if its insecure

      Ps i didnt neg

      • I'm trying to understand how an unmanaged switch, with no MAC address, no identifier on a LAN, can possibly allow "the Chinese to surveil you."

I would have thought for surveillance products you would want PoE?
That being said $59 is a good price for a 5 port Gigabit POE switch

    • Depends if you have POE cameras, a lot of them come with solar chargers or rechargeable batteries. But yeh, I went with POE for peace of mind.

Interesting to note: The Tenda TEG1005D has 6KV lightning protection. Which I also see on some of there other switches but not there 8 port models. Or any other manufacturers having this.

Integrated with a professional lightning protection circuit that offers 6KV lightning protection to each port to effectively prevent lightning-induced
current from damaging the ports or switch, so as to ensure the surveillance system stability.

Good to know. As I had a TP-Link TL SG105 get killed by a lightning storm last year.

  • I like my steak as I like my routers.
    Tenda.
