Part Time Front End Developer Courses with Certificate & Industry Connection

Hi guys,

looking for a part time course to improve my front end development skills and to switch jobs (currently working 8-5 full time in unrelated industry).

Had a couple non-paid internship thru some friends and have a portfolio.

Looking for some course I can do after work and evaluating these:

https://online.rmit.edu.au/course/sc-front-end-web-developer…? (strongly leaning towards this, but not sure about work connections/the certificate)
https://generalassemb.ly/education/front-end-web-development (not much to learn here :( )
https://generalassemb.ly/education/javascript-development/on…
https://generalassemb.ly/education/react-development/online
https://coderacademy.edu.au/coding-courses/coding-bootcamps/…
https://cce.sydney.edu.au/techbootcamp (seems pricey and not sure if manageable with full time work)

Do you have any others you suggest to look into. I feel like I got the basic skills (Vue.js basics, JS basics, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, SCSS) to start a junior position but no luck so far. So looking for a course where I also could build some connections with companies and/or get a good certificate which may make getting a job easier.

Ideally in Sydney (online with tutor otherwise).

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey mate, I'm a front end dev and I taught myself all I know today (in a full time position) from prototyping, Googling a lot and taking a few online courses from udemy.com.

In our industry we don't hire based on degrees or any type of 'certificate'. If you can do the job, you can do the job.

If you PM me I can help you get started with a few course recommendations and a roadmap to get to where you want to be, without being confused and frustrated in your first few months. :)

    • Can you PM me too?

      • Sure. You need to enable private messages with your account first.

        • Done.

Courses aren't really that helpful, your time is better spent building portfolio / doing projects on github, and going to meet ups etc to get yourself out there. From there agency recruiters will find temp developers to help out for a couple weeks or months somewhere as well - personally that is how I got a full time position, but YMMV.

That said, I go through a course from this list from time to time to learn new things

If you sign up to your local library you get free access to lynda.com - there's a tonne of good stuff on there as well that you can easily add to your linkedin.
