Preferably Chinese or buffet, budget is around $200 ($250 max) for 4 adults. How's the one at Sydney Central? Been there for yum cha before but not dinner. Or $50pp buffet would make things easy. Any ideas? Cheers!

think u can ask for half half
get half spicy, half beef soup
im rather confused, which yum cha place are you referring to?
The one in Sydney Central, yes, that's the name of the building. I just looked it up, it's called Zilver.
went to silver recently for yum cha… crap
east ocean is the best yum cha place I reckon with marigold…
as said below suminoya is really good (about 50 a head)… only drawback, you smell like smoke/meat at the end of the meal
on of my favourites is
http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/70/750541/restaurant/New-South-W…food is really good but its small and cramp and they want you out once finished
or alternatively, you can always go to golden century..
best salt and pepper squid i have had in sydney and as a Chinese I normally dont order any 'westernised' dishes but their honey prawns i must admit was good
You should try the East Ocean restaurant:
http://www.eastocean.com.au/Yum-Cha/yum-cha.htmlNo buffet, but they do a-la-carte and yumcha. The XO Chilli crab is excellent.
I used to go there for yum cha a lot, it's quite nice, lots of varieties. Went there for dinner once, probably two years ago, with friends from overseas. The waiter put me on the spot by recommending shark fin soup and steamed abalone, saying I should let my guests try them because they are the restaurant's specialty, blah blah blah.
Kam Fook in chatswood or bondi is of quite a good standard, though the prices reflect that.
Ever been to Korean/Japanese bbq buffets ? Note they are not the same thing. May be similar but not the same - avoid those places that have BOTH korean and japanese as that means it's not authentically either one. I suggest Suminoya in martin place, it is one of the best Japanese bbq buffet places and the prices include ice cream (as many as you can eat…) and not just cuts of meat to bbq - ie salads, sashimi (i think) and various other japanese side dishes.
Thanks guys! Just an update, we had dinner at Yummy Chinese BBQ (George Street, across from Central station), it's all-you-can-eat style, they have meats on skewers you cook on a charcoal tray, its chain driven so the skewers rotate automatically. Also comes with a mini steam pot with choice of normal or hot soup base. Ok value but they might have over charged my card, blame myself didn't ask for itemised bill.
Some friends brought me to the Red Chilli Sichuan in Sydney (near Chinatown). They serve steam boat buffet, and is apparently authentic Sichuan.
Was very yummy, but the soup base we had was a bit spicy for my liking. All out, it came to around $40 each including drinks.
