Windows Laptop Suggestion for Friend, around 13 Inch, No Touch Screen

I'm looking at windows laptops on behalf of a friend, but I'm not aware of what's current.

Mainly used for writing, Netflix, and backing up data, so power is not needed, but would likely need comfortable keyboard, lap-compatible form factor, and reasonably sized SSD.

(Friend backs up on portable hard drives too)

Friend has emphasised lightness, and prefers non-touch screens.

Their current screen size is 13 inches, but I think they would go up to 15.

Any suggestions? Lightness is most important, so do make suggestions that don't fit all of the criteria above, but give me your opinion as to why you'd suggest it.

Thanks very much!

what's the budget? Plugging in "lightest laptop 2020" gives results from 1k to around 4.5k maybe try doing that also?

    Nothing under 1.6kg for 15"

Be lucky to get 1.2kg. There is Asus 14" 1.2kg $1200 approx here

Don't worry about it being non-touch; you can always ignore or disable it - and having touch will definitely improve usability and value in a few year's time when it gets offloaded or sold.

Also, laptop keyboards are hugely varied so you might be best trialling them instore if that's the primary use.

I would suggest a lenovo thinkpad T series.

Not sure about the weight, but the build quality is the best I've seen.

Also the ones that come with 2 batteries are great, can last 2-3 days of usage before a recharge.

But yeah ozbargain user, so probably looking for a lot cheaper laptop.

For me it's all about battery life and durability, I like things that last.

I bought a Lenovo Thinkbook 13s for uni etc. 1.2kg and great battery life. Perfect for someone like me who catches buses and regularly walks back and forth across a large campus. Matte screen is a plus.
