What!?!
Poison / weed killer. Put it in a water gun and spray it in there. Plant will die eventually.
Yeah, sounds like a plan, but no rounding up the kids.
+1 on the idea but I would use something other than roundup. You could start with boiling water.
@try2bhelpful: Make a cup of tea and watch it grow?
@spackbace: Throw the boiling water over it.
@try2bhelpful: Might make it hard to drink the tea that way
@spackbace: Make a strong cup of tea, yell out “this is way too hot and strong” then throw it over the plant. It will never see it coming.
@try2bhelpful: What kind of tea is best?
@spackbace: Cannabis tea, after all it is a weed.
you just nail a piece of wood to cover up the gap and your problem is gone.
Haha, wtf
Or OP can close his eyes every time he walks past the gap, problem solved!
Let it grow, let it growwwwww, bricks can't hold it back any morrrreeee
If OP encourages it to grow towards him he can grab it and pull it out.
Or it may grab him… who knows what lurks in the darkness.
Poison/Weed killer/Kerosene - pour at the base
It’s quite deep inside.
That's what she said
That's a worry
Light the kerosene, she'll be right.
Oh boy.
I've seen cases like these before.
You're going to want to knock down and rebuild.
Hahaha
Spray Mould Away on it. It will kill the plant
Splash boilng water.
Send a small child in to rip it out.
Flamethrower.
Blackberry killer. Full strength. It will knock the hell out of it. And if it doesn't kill it the first time, then repeat. It will definitely work. However it is very toxic and so the less that you spread around, the better. And take excessive care with avoiding skin contact, breathing the mist, keeping pets etc away. If you hose/detox the area after 24 hours and get water on the plant it won't matter as the poison will still have had time to knock it.
yeah, thanks mate. I am still trying to figure out how to access to this plant hidding in there.
Something like a 'killer soaked rag' on a stick. And move the stick to get the rag to transfer killer onto the plant. You won't need much. Do a few trial runs. Regarding supersoakers etc. I am not a fan of distant spraying of such a killer.
Your photos focus is on the brickwork, not the plant…
But yeah. Basically herbicide (roundup), boiling water (will take much longer), or household chemicals (bleach, peroxide, methylated spirits, turp, etc) will all kill it - it's really how to get that stuff to the plant.
Supersoaker is as good an idea as any, though Kmart and Bunnings etc all sell pump spray containers like this one for $9.50:

weed killer
That is a beautiful footings plant. You may be too late as it looks established and breeding sending its baby plants deep down to eat the concrete. I suggest selling ASAP.
Posting on gumtree now!
Roundup in a spray’n’wipe bottle from the top with nozzle set to “stream”. Very little drift so shouldn’t kill the neighbours prize roses
Get some pvc pipe and pour the weed killer in
Petrol.
Boiling Water, Cheap and Easy. It should start changing colour after a while (a few days). Then knock it off using a stick.
I think it won't be affected by roundup if it's what I think it is, a cactus-like plant.
Curious as to why the building is so close together? Is this a terrace?
No, it not a terrace. The lot beside mine has been redeveloped into multiple townhouses and the one at then end has the garage built just right next to my garage.
Although it's out of focus, plant looks like Prickly Pear (Opuntia species)
https://weeds.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/PricklyPearsOpuntias
Opuntia species have been declared Weeds of National Signficance in Australia.
Can you get a better/focused pic of the plant itself?
Yes, i just updated the image. It looks like a tropical plant to me.
OK, so it's not Prickly Pear (Opuntia species).
Any idea what plant is that?
@OhNoUShiz: I think it's Alocasia Odora (aka Elephant Ears)
https://www.google.com/search?q=Alocasia+Odora&tbm=isch&chip…
Here's a few varieties…
Alocasia Odora - Night Fragrant Elephant Ear

Alocasia Odora (Night-Scented Lily)

In Soloman Islands if they want to kill a tree they gather around and start cursing the tree, it will eventually die due to all the negative energy. I only came to learn this from a movie I don't remember. May be give it a try, it's free and it will improve your cursing skills lol…
Roundup in a kids supersoaker
