    yeah nah

    • Na, yeah?

  • What shop? Please put in title.

    • Added now.

  • This is a terrible seat - don’t waste your money on it! Have a look at the “Child restraints. Is your child restrained correctly?” Facebook group if you’re looking for a new car seat.

They don't sell things that don't meet standards.

I purchased 3 (both inlaws) of the Kmart $200 one a few years ago and they've been perfectly fine.

      • Standards are pretty broad.
        Actually safety ratings here: https://www.childcarseats.com.au/

It's just like saying car dealers only sell roadworthy cars, but not all cars are safe (some are significantly safer than others)

      Why is it terrible?

OMG don't tell me a facebook group said it was bad, it must be true!!!

      • These seats ARE horrible! They force you to forward face a baby too early, the height markers are very low. It is recommended you rear face the baby for as long as possible. Mothers choice seats don’t offer that option. Don’t get me started on the useless mothers choice seat we have in a grandparents car. I would love to get a sledge hammer onto that thing pronto. Its annoying to use, I want to get a sledge hammer onto it as it is that bad!

I recommend the safe and sound range of seats made by britax. We have a millenia for our baby. Its very easy to adjust and our 4 year old was rear facing it that seat until he was 3.5years. He could have rear faced for longer but we needed that seat for our new baby. Our 4 year old is now in a safe and sound maxi guard pro.

        • Rear facing until 3.5? My little monsters didn’t even last 12mths before they were too big for a capsule (luckily they’re hired via the council).

I want to get a sledge hammer onto it

          Ok,

@[Deactivated]: Yes capsules only go 6-12months. Extended rear facing seats are designed so they rear face much longer. My child was small so he could have easily gone to 4. Most will go to the age of 2 or 3

          • @[Deactivated]: I'm impressed you got more than 8 months out of a capsule, they're generally suited for ~6 months. Many car seats are convertible, allowing them to go rear facing. We use a Britax Millenia. I like it but I was thinking of this one for the in laws.

Why post a deal asking if it's a good deal? Do some research.

    • Thought it was a good deal and some says its good but actually need input from this forum as I would trust and long time follower.

  • Op look for one that can turn into a booster seat.

    • Yeah looking for that in any other brand.

  • I think there's a government website that rates safety of child car seats. Sorry I just can't remember which site it is but we used that to vet our kid's seats

  • I have two mothers choice seats, they are different models (don’t know which ones) but were about this price. 1 I like and have no complaints and the other I can’t stand, its a real pain to tighten the harness and the seat (rear facing) seems to move around a bit more.

  • If you want a seat from target I would choose this one https://www.target.com.au/p/safe-n-sound-quickfix-iso-conver…

  • We bought Mother's Choice Serenity from Target recently and quite happy with it.

  • Mothers Choice is well known for having very low markers, making you forward face your baby early. Ideally you should rear face for as long as possible (under 4yo),i also bought a mother's choice when I just found out I was expecting, just gonna put it in my sisters car for occasional trips.

If you want a cheap but great seat, Babylove Ezy Switch ($160) from kmart/baby bunting is good. I replaced my Britax Graphene with it and am very happy with the seat, I like how the strap is easy to adjust compared to fiddling with the hidden button lol

    • Thanks for the suggestion, looking for a cheapish one for the in laws.

  • I'm suprised these aren't Isofix - figured surely they'd all have that option by now. For those with a compatible car, its amazing how simple that system is to install.

    • Isofix is more $$. My parents car doesn't have the seat belt lock so I have to wait for a deal as I can't get it tight enough with a clip
