    No idea.

I read there are some fires somewhere….maybe?

Maybe even some dirt from the middle of our island? that's being carried by some strong winds. I think the middle bit is called the red something…..

Do you live under a rock? (maybe your rock is melting or degrading and dumping on you)

yeh went for a ride bayside SE and its all over the place from mordi down to seaford. the rains last night seemed to have dispersed it everywhere…same as what happened last week more or less…dust storms from SA, northern VIC etc?

It come from the dusty bowl of the bush and picked up in the storms. Gets everywhere.

  • It comes from rural Australia, and depending on winds can easily travel across the entirety of Australia. It's always happened, but the difference now is climate change is making it a lot worse. Climate change has always existed (climate has never been static), however the difference now is that mankind's contribution has now reached such a level that the change in climate conditions is currently worse than it otherwise would have been.

    • ^ This.

Or it could be that Australia has been suffering from the adverse effects of a positive Indian Ocean Dipole phase, a negative Southern Annular Mode phase and Antarctic Sudden Stratospheric warming, all of which generally mean drier conditions, less rainfall and hot Westerly winds.

None of which are created by man made climate change.

Or it could be that gooddealmate is an alien teddy bear from another universe, none of which are created by man made climate change.

      • +3

Except that climate change is having a significant effect on the Indian Ocean Dipole frequency and severity.

or it could be that people like this who deny climate change let the government get away with actively blocking efforts to mitigate risk

        Don't confuse results with causes.

  • We're even getting down here in Tassie…

    • Whereabouts? I'm in Tassie and haven't had any in my area this summer. Have had it in the past tho.

I'm in Launceston and my car was covered in red dust this morning. I saw heaps of other cars around with red dust too today.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in Tassie.

      • Sometimes/often so am I, but these days the mainland isn't much better…

        • Or, as the saying goes the grass isn't always greener on the other side. :P

    Source = Mildura region

No recent rain. Crops harvested. Strong winds. Dust storm.

    • Always was, Always will be, Mildura land.

    Mars obviously

  • From our desserts

  • You need to collect it all up and take it back to the bush where it came from.

This^. It’s not your property. And by walking on it, you are essentially trespassing.

Not a widely known fact, it's actually the mating spore of the Variegated Warbler Flying Hoop Snake.

It usually arrives around Christmas time or mid-January in inland areas. Early Chinese migrant miners in the late 1800's believed it brought good luck as it pre-empted Chinese New Year.

And careful if it gets on your bed! Aboriginal lore maintains that you'll be blessed with many babies before the year is out.

Doesn't sound like good luck to me!

The dust storm is amplified by the apathy/denial of conservative voters. Plain & simple.
