The price really needs to come down its been years now! PS4 can be had for under $300 it's crazy

    • -7

      There's always the Lite..

    • -1

Yeah I love Nintendo but this was overpriced on launch, now it’s just an insult to customers.

      • +4

Someone must be buying them at these prices.

        • +14

Today on OzBargain, Ozbargainers fail to grasp the concept of supply and demand.

          • -1

@chepsk8: I grasp it, but doesn't change my personal opinion of the worth of the console.

            • +3

@PainToad: Aight, so dont buy the thing, but dont act all entitled and proclaim "its an insult to customers" as you just sound like a moron.

      • +13

Well, it's selling very well even at it's current pricing.
Over 50 million units so why should they drop the price?

        • +5

why should they drop the price?

Out of the kindness of nintendo's heart ofcourse. Come on.

The Switch is under 3 years old, vs. over 6 for the PS4 though…

    • +1

Yeah as an onlooker I really can't justify spending this much on a 'casual' gaming system.

      • +14

As someone who considers games an entertainment product, all gaming systems are "casual"

          • +5

@wetsandwich: That's to you, not to everyone lol.

There's a reason the regular comes with a dock. It's actually great in the dock and i personally play it a lot in handheld mode at home rather than 'on the go'.

It's a great gaming system that unlike the PS4 (which i love) is more easily accessible and can fit in with your routine far easier.

          • +5

@wetsandwich: Personally, I'm much more likely to have 30 mins here or there to play a game rather than a couple of hours at a time. So I'd probably get much more gaming from a Switch type system than a standard console, therefore far more gaming/dollar.
            Different strokes.

          • @wetsandwich: The Switch is really just another console and is functionally similar to a PS4 in a lot of ways, just with a different game library and its whole own set of exclusive games, but with somewhat lower specs and the option to take it on the go if you want. I own both a Switch and a PS4 and I use them in pretty much the same way. You can still hook the Switch up to the TV for the same home console experience - hell, I use mine exclusively on my living room TV - you just have the option to take it on the go, which I almost never use personally. But some people like the portability.

I mostly bought a Switch because Nintendo periodically releases great, quality exclusives that you can't get anywhere else. The whole "sit down and play it for a couple hours" thing applies just as much to a Switch as it does to a PS4.

        • I agree, Disney's Aladdin and Lion King are clear examples of games only adults should be playing!

        • I think Xbox and PlayStation are aimed towards teens and up not to say there isn’t kids games on these systems.
Nintendo was previously the family friendly game console (again not to say mature rated games didn’t exist on Nintendo consoles) however lots more mature aged games are being released on the Switch so I think of them more as an all age group console

        • Yes. That's why I strictly play Tearaway and Little Big Planet on my PS4 and Witcher 3 and Bayonetta 2 on my Switch.

          Wait.

    • -4

      That's why I don't buy one … :-) Easy.

  • Anyone seen the Switch Lite for any cheaper? Looking for one for a birthday gift

    • Currently the cheapest available. Could wait until Amazon AU pricematch and hopefully stack with cashback.

    • only a few dollars less but Wish Gift cards > Big W
they did have it for $279 not long ago either so can hold out hope it'll happen again

  • Is there a system like the old WII available where a family can play together ?

    • +1

Yep, just need another set of Joy-Con Controller.

      • Thanks very much

        • +1

Each joy-con can act as a single controller so buying another pair means you can have 4 player local multiplayer.

  • yeah, I'm waiting for it to get cheaper… ugh.

    • It comes up for mid 300's with a game semi regularly. Just hang out if you can.

  • I've passed up on so many good switch deals these last couple years, seeing the prices now I think at this point I might just wait another year for the switch "Pro"

    • Same. Just can't pull the trigger.

      • Yeah, I figure Nintendo doesn't really depreciate too quickly and I bought in at around the 4 month mark when there was a good deal at the time. Worth paying in my opinion since you get to play 3 years of first party Nintendo games. Should sell for a decent price too once you're finished…

    • +1

Note that there’s no new model coming this year

  • +1

It should really be at Switch Lite prices at this point.

  • +5

This makes me really appreciate the $339 I spent on the 2019 switch (w/ mario kart bundle) before xmas at EB Games Ebay deal.. surprised it hasn't stayed low.

    • +1

Also bought mine from that deal. It was EB Game Black Friday Sale stacked with eBay Coupon Code.

    • Almost bought it but waited out for Pro but looks like it's confirmed by Nintendo to investors that no new models for 2020 😭

  • Is Mario Kart download token or physical game?

    • +1

      Digital Download Code.

  • Is the difference between grey and neon version just about the colour of the remote?

    • Yes.

    • +1

Yep. Just note that the neon controller combination cannot be purchase separately (Left Blue, Right Red).

  • $349 from Amazon last year was the best price. Missed.

    • eBay Plus had the switch for $280 when the service first launched if I remembered correctly.

  • Does Jb hi-fi price match this offer?

    • Doubt it as a coupon code is required, but YMMV.

  • just want to place the order, it is out of stock now.

  • Neon with discount is now at $460.66

  • 541 now
