just because it is the cheapest, that doesn't necessarily make it a bargain.
It's not a bargain for me at this price, it's what I would call the new market price - judging by what's been doing on ebay etc.

    • -8

actually market price on ebay is going above $300. It's below market price, hence, a bargain.

      • -1

LMAO at people paying >$300 . Totally dead system , even hacked android will only be for the linux crowd .

      • Yes but people on ebay tend to be idiots at times. I've seen 2nd hand goods go for more than a new item is selling for at the shops.

If there was ever proof that the market is more than capable of being irrational, it's ebay,

      • Agree, that argument is completely logical. Market prices change quickly. $99 was a bargain a few days ago. Unfortunately the reality is that until another $99 deal rocks up, this is a "bargain".

        • +1

Scarcity alone does not a bargain make. If you were being generous $250-$300 is the new normal price and at that price an unsupported, dead product is not a bargain. You might aswell spend $50-$100 more, get the Asus tablet and enjoy something that IS supported both s/w and h/w wise.

          At $99, though…

    • +3

It's not a bargain to me too. $249 for a pad without support anymore, it's not a bargain at all.
Magic 7 Deals:Asus Transformer + Docking-$499 is much better than it.

I thought HP were bearing the brunt of the price drop!?

    • agreed. they talk about providing a better price if they get access to "this discounted stock".

I thought HP just said…'PRICE CUT!!!' and they reimbersed the retailers for any differences in cost.

Maybe mobicity isn't covered in this (maybe import product?) since the tablet was suppose to be HN exclusive?

    • Interesting, they've, mobicity, have changed their wording…must have realised it'd come back to bite them!

  • +8

wow - hp drops the price to $99 and these guys sell it for 250% of that price - NICE

  • +1

Not a bargain, there are better options out there with better support at this price.

  • +2

mobicity are even selling the ZTE v9 for $299, what a Ripoff ?
    http://www.mobicity.com.au/zte-v9-tablet.html

    • Look at the "regular price" for these hp tablets. Even HN's inflated "regular" price for these (on the box sticker) was cheaper than this. Seems dodgy as

    • Not a bargain - agreed.

But I doubt they are trying to rip anyone off. MobiCity grey-import most of their stock. I'm guessing they probably landed these units at much >$250ea and, therefore, are probably selling them at a loss just to try and move them.

  • +1

I think its not too bad, thinking about it

  • +2

When HN can afford to sell @ $98 (yeah I know they did a deal with HP), why can't mobicity ?
Stop ripping people off .. This is not a bargain ..

    • +2

Ah ha! It just clicked. This isn't Australian stock as HP had an exclusive distribution deal with HN in Australia. Note:

What's in the box?: Tablet, Battery, Original charger, Adaptor plug, Australian wall charger

      Also:

HP's announcement to cease manufacture of the hardware component of webOS is seperate from our supply agreements.

So, not only are you paying $150 more but you are also paying for non-Australian stock. Sorry, that just tipped it into neg territory for me.

  • With that price, I will go with Asus Transformer.

  • i was expecting i to be a megabuy deal haha

    • No it was a megabuy deal there would be a picture of a guy standing in front of a mountain of touchpads and forums posts by him blasting HN to stop the 'stupidity'.

  • not worth it for $250. the platform is dead. questionable even at $200. For $150, sure.

  • -2

Making more than 150% profit is not a bargin!

  • I heard you can install android on it.

  • -3

    no deal - dead platform

    • +4

Platform still being developed - not dead:

      http://allthingsd.com/20110822/hp-webos-still-coming-to-pcs-…

Only the HP production of future webOS devices has been discontinued.

      • "Limited markets" doesn't exactly leave developers brimming with confidence. I mean, who's going to put resources into developing apps/software for a platform which basically has a static/declining userbase?

  • +2

I don't know how people can want one at $249. Everytime you use it, you'd be reminded that you missed out on an awesome bargain.

  • +1

Compare to $99 deal from HN, $249 is so expensive, rather just get the $129 optus mytab …

    • You can get it from these guys for $299 - score

  • Cheapest deal in Australia after the Harvey Norman Sale sold out?

    how about the dumbest deal

  • +1

This doesn't seem like such a good deal, mainly because at the fire-sale price of $99 of recent days, you could pick one up and ignore the fact that webOS is no longer being developed. However, it is much harder to justify paying a $150 'premium' to buy into a platform that is effectively dead.

The fact that a retailer has to specifically justify/explain their pricing is also a good sign that the pricing isn't that great ;)

    • Should this profit taking of no-longer officially sale product - made illegal?

  • Poor LAD BURNT on his FIRST Post…

    • +2

If only he had asked for us to be gentle on him… ;)

      • True…,will learn in due time !, since 2 Feb 2010…

    • should really have either tagged on the end of the other touchpad post, or stuck it in the forums….. was bound to get negged mercilessly (none of which have provided any cheaper available alternatives, I note).

I say good on you OP….. at least you are pointing out some availability for this product, which will be useful for some in the community, no doubt.

      Is it a bargain?….. I'm a neutral on that one…..

  • totally not a bargain :[

  • This is a bargain compared to what else is available? Only 6000 were sold at HN in all of Australia.. so many have missed out. What are the other options at this price point and this quality? nothing. It's a bargain.

    • +1

There is a lot of options at this price point , mytab, t tab, not far off the base price for transformer.

I would double it not to use HP!

      • mytab, ttab resistive screen, no multitouch, 7 inch.. no flash, useless.

        touchtab, capacative, 10 inch, useful

there are no other options at this pricepoint

  • 150bucks more than it should be??? u must be joking right? no deal to me…

  • Not bargain! Import from US cheaper!

  • Agree with all the comments platform is totally dead and a lack of support, wait a few months and you will see them all on ebay…Not worth it.

  • not a bargain.sorry rep

  • NO Deal!!

  • inc delivery I'd probably pay $200 for the 32GB.

    Otherwise… http://mycoffeelounge.net/pixup/28304-5083.jpg

  • Not a bargain…

  • yuck price for something that wont be supported.
