  • Always get these on sale. Thank you!

Cheaper per 100g that the 1.2kg and 1.4kg packs IIRC

    • +4

Yep $0.33/100g. Cheaper than the $5 1.2kg pack, which is $0.42/100g everyday low price.

The $5 1.2kg pack replaced the $5 1.4kg ($0.36/100g) / 1.5kg ($0.33/100g) pack, due to 'rising costs' about a year ago. Article. At that time these 575g packs would go 1/2 price to $1.80 ($0.31/100g), eg.

FML I just bought a 1.2kg box yesterday. Guess I'm going back to return it and grab some 575g boxes…

You do realise you can see the catalogues from Monday 5pm? I advise looking through them before you go if shopping on Tuesday.

Eg Uncle Toby's Plus cereals were $6 at Coles yesterday and $3.75 at Woolworths today. Have both near me so makes no difference to me, but most likely would've grabbed the $6 special yesterday had I not known about it being half price tomorrow.

I always make a Coles and a Woolies Shopping list on Monday Night showing me this weeks and next weeks specials that I would buy.

That way I know which store to buy from and when to buy.

Surely the effort of returning is worth more than the handful of cents that you will gain from taking this deal?

      • I won't go back specifically, just when I go to the shops next.

  • Does anyone else get bad acid reflux after eating wheatbix?

    • -1

Nah, but makes my pee smell like wheat. Have 6-8 at a time if that affects it.

    • I would rather get acid reflux! Weetbix makes me fart and with such a smell I am sure I could kill someone in 2 meter radius if I didn't fart in private.

    • You made the mistake of eating Wheatbix, not Weet-Bix.

I used to get bad reflux, not specifically from Weet-Bix. I cured it by taking kiwi fruit powder of all things. I probably could have done the same with actual kiwi fruit.

    • Absolutely yes. It is not only Weetbix though - if that happens to you, I guess that pastry triggers it too. And also bread in general, very spicy foods (condiments), chocolate and/or citric fruits. And also if you don't eat at the right times it can get triggered.
Some people are prone to reflux - it's worth checking with you GP because there's medicine that might help you. If uncontrolled, it can create other problems in the long run.

Once stocked up and had them laying on their sife 6 foot high in the corner of the kitchen.
Missus probably won't let me do that again now with kids in the house.
Wonder how many I can get though…

    • Makes me wish Woolworths Rewards was nationwide 😉

      • It's not?

        • Almost, but not quite. Excludes Tasmania.

          • @hamza23: Yup. Better points to $ value but the only real promotion you'll ever get is double points day.

Also no Aldi or Costco :(

I've never had regular Weetbix anymore since I discovered the amount of salt and sugar they throw in it for free. Weetbix kids is the same, but without the salt and sugar, and it tastes better IMO. If I want to make it sweet, I can put in fruit.

Not sure why they call it Weetbix kids - it should be called 'Weetbix clean' or something.

    • +6

Weetbix has 1g of sugar per 2 biscuits or 3.3g per 100g, weetbix kids has 0.9g of sugar per 2 biscuits or 2.9g per 100g. There is little difference in sweetness. Weetbix kids doesn't have folate like regular Weetbix, but has calcium instead.

      Weetbix
      Weetbix Kids

Vitabrits is closer to unsweetened, it's 0.4g sugar per 100g, however the sodium content is higher (400mg/100g, compared to weetbix 270mg/100g or weetbix kids 45mg/100g) and it doesn't have added folate, iron and vitamins that Weetbix has. Vitabrits

I think either way you are doing okay, I'm alright with 1g of sugar in my breakfast, other cereals have up to 10 times that.

      • The added vitamins are barely worth mentioning. Not in a high enough dose to make any difference.

    • +2

Doesn't seem that much at all.

1g of sugar and 80mg of sodium in every 2 biscuits. That's literally nothing, what are you on about?

    • The private label version only has 1.5g sugar per 100g (29cents/100g). Its ingredients are literally whole grain wheat (99%) and salt. It is also made by Sanitarium.

  • Aldi Wheat Biscuits have 2.8g/100g of sugar and 250mg/100g sodium, are cheaper and seem to taste much the same. Since the Cereal Wars some months back and the increased pricing in Coles and Woolworths I have swapped over. Weeties have gone to $6 a box and I have to give up on them and my favourite, low sugar cereal, Puffed Wheat has gone off the market yet all that high sugar, diabetes inducing stuff remains.

    • They are made by the same company, just different amounts of salt, sugar, vitamins get added to the cooking stage. So yeah just the cheaper one.

    Tastes like cardboard,

  • Can't they use the word wheat?

  • I'm a Weetbix kid.
