Mrs asks for a stainless steel AW 5. Unfortunately, this version is cellular (only option) bringing the price to $1000+. Saw some sales for the aluminium version but never seen any deal for the stainless one on OzB. Please educate me if there is any deal around (or cheapest way to buy)

Get the stainless steel model if only for the glass. The stainless steel (which I have) is sapphire crystal which is infinitely more durable than the glass on the aluminium models. I have scrapped and banged it hard on rough concrete walls that I was certain would damage it and it’s as pristine as the day I bought it. My wife’s aluminium model hasn’t fared as well.

I often wait until ia generation is 1-3 years old, and then purchase a secondhand stainless steel model; the case may have scratches, but the sapphire glass is insanely durable. I’ve also smashed mine on hard surfaces and it’s perfect; would’ve broken an aluminium one by now, easily.
If you are worried about that then turn the face on the inside of your wrist when walking and turn outside when you sit down.
I wanted the stainless steel but settled for the aluminium. In the black it looks pretty badass in the aluminium. I’m going to buy a 3rd party mesh band to go with it.
Stainless steel? Why not the titanium or ceramic? They are only $2k. Definitely better than disgusting aluminium or stainless steel. Terrible elements.
