Two cats at our place. One ten years old, the other still a baby at 1 year old.
They go outside while we are around, but mostly inside. Zero bird kills, and our pet bird is still alive and well. Never let them out at dawn or dusk.
It all comes down to responsible pet ownership if you ask me
