American Bargainer Makes $800 US Profit for 20 Minutes Work at Gamestop (US EB Games)

Two gamestops in town. One of the two is closing and Xbox One X’s marked at $199. Bought one, took it to trade at the GameStop a few blocks away. They gave me $275… went back and bought two more using the store credit. Then 3 more. Ended up buying all 9 in stock and got a $796 gift card and kept 1

Just the other day I saw the park BBQ cooker on Reddit. Today this.

I'm now just waiting for the end of the world because someone carried out some black magic ritual on some date of conjuction of universes…

    • the park BBQ cooker on Reddit.

Did someone steal our troll thread?

I can't find it but yeah, they were wondering how you'd cook risotto on a grill too.

The end of the world is 50 to 200 years from now, according to NASA/DoD, because that's when the Earth will become incapable of supporting human life due to climate change.

We've known about this problem since 1902 so obviously the rational people in the free market will do something to prevent it. They don't know what and every year it becomes more expensive to do something, but they'll act rationally, don't worry.

Get the Greens in hey Dij? They won't know how to balance the budget, but by crikey they'll get all the nations to come together over a worldwide singalong of kumbaya!

I have to give it to Diji1… that was an amazing segue.

The end of the world is 50 to 200 years from now,

Oh, we got plenty of time.

        • The end of the world is 50 to 200 years from now,

that also means the end of Diji1 & clones, that has got to be a good thing

I would argue its more like 20-50 years from now. There will be a tipping point, and climate change wont be the worst of our problems, the food stock will become much scarcer, especially seafood and the majority of the worlds population will starve to death way before climate change kills us off.

Lol! You don't understand how self-destructive and vindictive conservatives are. All they fight for is making the world a worse place for both themselves and others, they will see it burn or go down in violence before letting the rational people save our species or do good.

really ought to be a clear differentiation between a keen bargainer and a scalper/reseller.
One is respectable, the other a filthy leech.

Remember the infamous 'BBQ Tom' saga? We haven't seen that sort of ebay/paypal discounts ever again, have we?
The people cheering him on were really just celebrating their own doom.

Not really, those days of dirty bargains was when there were real bargains.

Now we have a bunch of sooky crybabies who want exact instructions so everyone can get a slice of the pie.

It's because OzB has become a dummy bargain 101 handbook for every dog, mother and Dave that stores have gotton smart about their bargains. If Broden bought up all the BBQ/PS3/Xbox/HDMI cable that's a good thing because it means the everyday shopper would just shrug their shoulder and can continue to pay 'normal' prices to keep stores a float, wages fair and subsidise your actual bargain.

Everytime I see an Ebay 10% off gift card bargain post, I lament that it was because of the goody two shoes idiot busy bodies who feel the need to feed normies with instructions on how to do it. Back when it relied on truly smart bargainers, you could literally generate your 50% off gift cards, but no, good things never last.

Next will be the 7/11 fuel hacks….

      • We're talking two different things here I think

The guy in the story ripped off a struggling business to score the bargain. Its like scamming a vulnerable person - someone who just crawled out of a car crash probably won't realise (yet) that the grinning towie is charging them quadruple the normal rate.

        On the other hand,

Its true - whoever finds the bargain, they hold all the cards - its their call whether they want to share it here or not.
The commonly accepted definition (of a broden) is that the broden did not discover the deal, they just saw it here then bought all the stock at everyone's expense (you and me included).

The 20% ebay giftcard deals through Ebay UK, I think a lot of people benefited from it.
I'd prefer that compared to just one person (who's not the OP) buying up all 4000 cards, boom out of stock, and then they're reselling it on the OZB Classifieds for profit.

The good old days are definitely gone, I think all the clever 'BBQ Toms' out there are accelerating this process many times over. Once a company has been burnt bad, they close the loophole permanently.

  • WOW you sir deserve a OzBargin badge of honour

  • $800 US Profit

    Maths a bit off?

    9 x $76 = $684

Should be even further off. He's saying he bought 9 and kept 1.

      • I'm assuming he made a profit on the one he kept as in lower purchase cost.

  • There are a few EB Games stores closing down. Just saying …
