Free $20 Gift Card for Completing a 5-Minute Exit Survey (after Leaving The Service) @ Alinta Energy

230

Lol, first time I've happened upon a deal that (sort-of) incentivises switching away from an energy provider.

I recently left Alinta Energy, and just received and completed an exit survey which promises a $20 gift card, delivered by email, upon completion of the survey.

So if you were thinking of leaving Alinta, here's a catalyst for you.

  • It does make sense to a certain extent. Alinta Energy wants to know why you left its service, but why should you, an ex-customer, waste your time to complete the survey? So it gives you $5 in exchange for your feedback.

    • $20

      • Was about to correct it. Beaten by 9 seconds.

'So why did you leave our service'

'You offered me a $20 gift card to leave'

      Genius

      • Exactly, haha 😂

Im with Alinta, which energy company did you switch to?

    • ReAmped, as they had the best value offer for my location, usage pattern and tarriff requirements. I regularly check www.energymadeeasy.gov.au to make sure i’m on the best deal, as in Qld, its a legal requirement that all energy providers allow you to switch at any time. They can’t lock you into contracts. May be the same in NSW / Vic etc but not sure.

      • ReAmped also came up for me for Queensland as cheapest, but when I checked my Alina bill, it was $15 cheaper than the ReQmped price….

        • Cancel that. My dates were wrong. ReSmped $30 cheaper. Thanks for the tip

  • @bohdud
Did you find a better deal than Alinta?
    From whom?

    (Alinta customer here).

ReAmped for my situation. But check www.energymadeeasy.gov.au and do your own calculations.

      • Thanks for the link.
They don't even mention Alinta as an option!

IAC Alinta comes out favourably for me (if I use their pay-on-time discount).
Good to know they are competitive.

  • i just left alinta a couple of weeks ago but didn't get this offer :(

    • Likewise.

    • I signed up with ReAmped around Xmas, received my last bill from Alinta a week ago, and got the survey today

Yeah so, where is everyone leaving Alinta to?

      China

    • Methane gas harvested from cows.

For those asking who had the better deal. It's never that simple as X is best.

Need to do your own homework as the best for me in my area may not be the best for you in yours. The best deal varies for every area.

  • WA here, switched to Kleenheat. There's additional discount for RAC members too, so might as well.

  • Where is the form?

They gave 7 day (!!!) notice about almost 10% price increase:

From 20 January 2020 your Fair Deal 30 plan will be 14% more than the reference price* but 14% below the reference price if you pay on time.

I got the same thing. Looking to leave them as well.

  • Left in October, found the email for $20 gift card, states that I must fill it out within 3 days but still let me complete the survey.

Fingers crossed the card comes through.

    • Edit, just received the gift card after filling out the survey from the email i got in October!

      Thanks OP

If you're in Vic check out Tango prices for electricity, should save you a fair bit of money + $20 gift card.

Oddly Origin has been cheapest for standalone gas.

Also make sure you get your $50 if you haven't already at your current address

  • I rang Alinta this morning to see if I was still on the best plan. I signed up for the Fair Deal 30 (elec) and Fair Deal 18 (gas) last year with a Groupon offer. They've now switched me across to their new Home Deal plan, which has across the board lower rates than my current Alinta plans and ended up only $5/year more expensive than the best deal that I could find on https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/.

No $20 gift card, but saves the hastle of changing providers. Plus, they've told me that they'll backdate the new rates back to my last read date, whereas my understanding is that changing providers would only mean that new rates kick in after my next read, which will help offset the potential $25 gain from switching.

    • Aaaand as soon as you get your next bill, you can switch anyway and have your cake and eat it too.
