Oreo Lunar New Year Tin 388g $5 (Was $15) @ Woolworths

460

Woolies has discounted Oreo cookies in special edition tin for 2020 Lunar New Year.

Originally $15, they were discounted previous week to $8.88, and now to $5.

It's 388g, so at $1.29 per 100g it's not that amazing deal cookie-wise.

But for $5 you also get the commemorative tin, so you can bang (about) it.

This is part of Lunar New Year Deals for 2020

      • +1

It was $8.88 prior to this new price drop, and that did not bring them any luck :D

  • Tin is not red enough

Honesty it's a terrible marketing. Ozs won't buy oreo has chinese name or make in China, as they will support made in Australia, which is fair enough. Chinese won't buy it either, because we don't eat OREO in China

    • Wow, I didn't know somebody speaks for the whole China and Australia here.

    • +2

While I'm not a fan of Oreo. Some facts to note:

      1) Oreo sold in Australia aren't made in Australia. If not China, it will either be Indonesia or Spain.

      2) Oreo, in fact, is actually very popular in China. They made their way in there quite a number of years ago and is something you can find easily in any supermarket nowadays.

How can you call yourself Australian if you don't speak Chinese?

    • +1

the masses don't like too much truth lol

  • I want this tin but I don't know which woolies stocks it. I couldn't find em at town hall.

    • They had it at town hall a few days ago, it was placed on the shelves next to the self serve check on the george st level.

    • At my local store, even the manager didn't know where they hid them. For some crazy reason they didnt' put them on the same isle as the rest of the Oreos. LOL

    • My local woolworths placed them in the fruit and vegetable area.

      • So you can have 5 serves of Oreo's daily

  • ill wait for the $2.88 auspicious pricing

  • I bought one at 8.88, mainly for the tin box, there are two flavors in it, original and chocolate. There is a wangwang mixed rice biscuit pack as well which is also discounted recently(previously 9.8), if you are ethnic Chinese you know what I am talking, if you are not, I suggest you give it a try.

Wife was going to buy it, put it back down as soon as she saw that it's made in China, there are so many snacks we stop buying now, Snickers for example, and the Premium Cracker are all from China now, honestly, I would pay more for Australia made as now we don't touch them anymore. Constantly checking the label is quite a pain.

  • Isn't one of the traditions is eating a biscuit from a blue tin? Not Oreo, I think it's some other biscuit. But I feel Oreo is capitalising on this.
