  • Noice - didn’t really need a new pair, but since when has that stopped anyone on OzBargain?

    • +1

50% off John Lennon sunglasses, you’d be throwing money away if you didn’t buy this.

      • +14

        Imagine that.

      • need the flip ones

  • They aren't all 50% off.

  • Up to 50% off… Not all

I mean, the title needs a revision, but how is that a downvote? It’s still a bargain.

      • +1

Accidental neg sorry… I'm trying to change, but it's greyed out

      • +1

        Ahh found it

Tip: check visiondirect.com.au and use code Mod: Removed.

Will almost certainly be cheaper than Myer

    • Pair I purchased for $125 at Myer is $244 at Vision Direct.

      • +8

I’m an idiot sorry. I meant fashioneyewear.com and use code NEW2020.

Mod: Replaced referral code with generic code NEW2020 for the same discount.

Thanks mate. Ordered the RB2140 for 140 with DHL premium delivery whereas it’s $220 on myer after discount!

          • @anamul: Hi, has your order shipped yet?

        • +2

I noticed that it is far cheaper in aud than USD for anyone trying. I have no idea how that works.

        • +5

          Thanks ALAT mate!

        • Are they legit?

            • @BarryBargain88: Hmm I'm always skeptical of grey import ray bans… But if they're polarised it should be somewhat obvious if they're fake (you'd think)

    • was looking at the RB4265 black/blue myer 147.50 fashioneyewear 160.57 .. so in this case myer wins .. but i usually compare with fashioneyewear when buying too

  • +1

Yeah only selected styles are 50% off, others are 20% off $200+ spend.
Is this in store too? Sunnies are one of those things I wouldn't buy without trying on

    • Totally agree with trying them on. I also think the same for shoes.

  • None of the classic styles are 50% off

    • +3

polarised wayfarers are still $200 after discount ….not even 20% off.

      • +1

Looks like the most popular aren't discounted. But the OP has still posted a good deal regardless

      • -2

Surely by 2020 we have good counterfeit wayfarers by now.

        • yes but can their polarisation be trusted?

          • @ciyborg: polarization in a glass lens e.g wayfarer, is expensive, and when wayfarer are 40% off they are the same price as counterfeit .

            • @garage sale: Why can’t the lens be made of plastic?

              • @AustriaBargain: it can but then same issue as plastic screen on mobile phone …..scratches easily. also glass is more optically correct, it is by camera lenses, microscope, telescope use glass lenses.

        • +1

You'd think so but they definitely haven't nailed it yet. The 'quality' on a real pair still is far better than most fakes on the market

          • @Dingus: If need custom lenses for my prescription In it anyway. If the lens is the only thing that makes genuine worth it, then I may as well get custom polarized lenses put into counterfeit wayfarer frames.

            • @AustriaBargain: yes, big thing about some ray bans is glass lenses which are expensive, need to be ground which is an expensive process, can’t be molded like plastic ….

              • @garage sale: Is glass better than plastic though? My plastic lenses must be grinded too, to match my prescription.

                • @AustriaBargain: Plastic makes the glasses lighter, but I found the plastic onces scratch more easily. Also assume the glass ones are more expensive.

                • @AustriaBargain: glass is heavier and less durable, in the sense that it is more dangerous if/when it breaks.

also, i can't find any optician that does glass prescription lenses any more.

                • @AustriaBargain: plastic, they come with set magnification and then are cut to,the size for the frame, it’s is why you can get prescription glasses made so quickly when in holidays in asia, they just cut to fit frame.

                  • @garage sale: I get charged extra because my prescription isn’t off the shelf. I don’t need just reading glasses, my eyes are oval shaped or something I dunno.

            • @AustriaBargain: The lens is 'fine' on the fakes, just the quality of the plastic and hinges is trash. But ymmv

  • I understand these can be somewhat polarising.

      Try again

    • You made me laugh, have a +1

I remember when rayban sunglasses were cheap as…like service station sunnies. Now the exact same thing is 10x more expensive for the same (or slightly worse) product…luxottica can piss right off.

    • I heard back then the lenses were made out of glass, now it's cheap recycled plastic.

    • +3

I received a pair for Christmas and actually had to Google how to make sure whether they're legitimate or counterfeit, they just felt so crap.

Now I've got "Tradie" sunnies from Big W and they're much better.

Just noticed a new "Targeted" CBA rewards offer of $15 off on $100+ spend at Myer needs to be activated in CBA app and spent before 29/1. Should pair up nicely for those wanting this deal as well.

    • +1

nice .. I had an amex offer spend 200 get 40 back.. that + cashrewards = win

  • +1

Tip: If you have a choice with the lens case. Go for the brown one. It will make it a lot easier to find in your bag. Will save you time as the black case just gets lost in there as it matches most bag linings.

  • Just ordered wayfarers original polarised thru fashioneyewear.com delivered Au $140 aprox. Thanks.

    • Which model?

      • Are you sure they are the Polarised ones as they usually have a P after the Rayban logo on the lens.

      • +1

Rb 2140 with p on lenses. Have the exact same pair now. Excellent price for this model.

  • Has anyone ordered from fashioneyewear.com ? Are they genuine Ray-Ban polarised or fake? I am wanting to buy one as it so cheap on there compared to Myers ?

    • according to the RB site they are

    • +2

Cant speak to the specific store… but a few years ago I nabbed a pair of RayBans off a website at a good price for my teenager, was wiling to buy RayBan as his first pair, but not at retail. I know, could be any fake website, but its not the point. When they arrived something looked odd to me and they didnt seem sharp to look through, just darker than without. Wasnt sure, just felt they were wrong. So I took them to Myer and spoke with the sunglasses lady. She took the model number off the arm, pulled out their retail pair with matching numbers and the frame was legit RB, she had no doubts, and the lens' to her was legit or an incredibly good fake with their markings, but clearly to the eye it was easy to see they were different to the local model. The glass was much flatter, and had nowhere near the same clarity.

It led me to discover, and its true with numerous products, there is what is called "not for this market". That is various products are legit, not fake at all, but in some way a subpar products to our first world products. In this case the lens was much more like Chemist glasses, than my several pairs of Myer bought RBs.

I recall perfume and cologne from Chemist Warehouse is the same, 1/2 price, but its half strength too. Its legit, but 1/2 strength and wears off in half the time.

Just my 2 cents ….OK, more like a buck and 2 cents.

      • The Myer staff or for that matter even specialist store staff can be fooled by fakes. Casey Neistat did a vid on exactly that taking his online version to a RB store. If it seems kae it probably is. You usually wont know till you get them and even then unless you have a pair to compare it's very hard to know given CN's test. All you can do is buy from legit stores. Sunglass hut is a store that sells legit glasses, hence usually their RR prices.

    • Good reviews. May have longer delivery time from reviews and in UK. If you have issues it will take longer to replace, but believe CS is great. i think I used them ages ago, but can't recall.

    • 100% legit. They are an authorised seller. Check OzBargain for Fashioneyewear deals. Everyone is happy with what they receive.

Use code ALATNAR for a discount

  • At least one pair shows up on Sunglass Hut Website for same price as Myer… might be other models too

    • The Myer glasses section is usually a Sunglass hut instore outlet.

  • Any brand/frame recommendations for people with bigger heads? I've never been able to fit Rayban's properly (always some flex on the frame).

    • Wouldnt you go for the wider rame width size? 150 in lieu of 140. There is a widse style Wayfarer. Really depends on what style of frame you like.

  • +1

    Still overpriced luxottica crap.

    • +3

They are better crap than the fakes. Would you even know if the fakes/cheap knock offs have proper UV lenses. I'm sure you would want a pair that is meant to protect your eyes.

  • Does anyone know what to do if I need a prescription on these sunglasses?

I'm pretty sure if I buy these from myer it would just be the base pair yeah?

    Would appreciate some help :)

    • Fashionwear do prescription lenses in sunglass frames.

      • So there's no way to get the frame and do the lenses after?

I just went through the checkout process for fashionwear and I think they fit it with a completely new lense.(correct me if I'm wrong)

        • go to an optician?

        • I think you can send prescription to fashionwear and they put them in. If you want them to return the original lens that they swap they can probably include it. Contact CS on Monday UK time. Or you can buy the sunglasses and get an optician to replace the tinted lens for prescriptions here.

  • When does this sale finish?

    • +1

      Sale ends: 28/01/2020

  • Fashion eyewear has 20% off at the moment, Raybans had a much cheaper starting point if you’re interested in ones not available on here!
