Metamucil Too Expensive?

Hello everyone,

I’ve heard about the magic of Metamucil. However when I checked it out in coles it was $34 for 180 doses. Assuming you take 2 a day for 90 days that’s $2.65 a day.

Edit: around 40c per day
Is it fairly priced?

  • What ever makes the magic happen is worth it ;)

Especially after a 20 piece feed and 2 zinger burgers!

    • +1

That requires a 23 piece prune feed

      • Nah, man… a good feed of KFC always precedes a magnificent dump.

Metamucil is simply flavoured Psyllium Husk. just buy Psyllium Husk instead, which you can get from coles/ww. Still pricey, but I'm sure it's cheaper, and without unnecessary garbage.

    • Woolworths online sells it for $6 for 250g (50 servings).

  • Is it fairly priced?

Nothing is ever priced fair…. its priced what the customer will pay…..

    • That is literally the definition of a fair price.

  • magic of Metamucil

Just eat a bag of mr. squid.

    • … which you can get from Costco. :-P

    • I object!

Check your math its 19c per dose or 38c/day

  • +2

Maths is off by quite a bit. Would be closer to about $0.40 per day.

  • A two-pack of the 673 gram (114 doses) smooth orange is $38.98 at Costco and goes on special at $30.98 every few months. I'll leave the maths to you.

  • Fruits and veges don't work for you?

    • +1

He probably just tried the McVeggie burger….

    • It has more uses that just a fibre source - it is also a bulking agent. I reckon I eat more than enough fruit and veges (am vegetarian) and I take it so that I only have to shit 1 time a day rather than 3. Even when I ate meat I was a 3 a day kind of person.

  • The 114 dose packs are often on sale for $18-20 at Amazon, Chemist Warehouse or Amcal. At $18 it is 16c per dose. I haven't got a CostCo near me but that $30.98 for 2x114 would be even better at under 14c per dose. I recommend the Lemon Lime.

Hurts my head 40% of the time, everytime.

  • Try the Woolworths bran sticks($1.8) (usually at the bottom of the breakfast section). Put some water in it and wait or microwave it so that it expands. They have more % of fibre per gram than All bran. Maybe half of the % fibre per gram compared with Metamucil.

  • Coles psyllium husk powder + Bickfords/whatever cordial works fine.

    $8 for 450g
