Chemist Warehouse fathers day sale
I just got myself a bottle of Joop Homme (125ml) for $29.95 and a bottle of Joop Jump (100ml) same price. I've never seen it this cheap before so I thought I'd share it here. Apologies if its already been posted, I'm currently with my girlfriend in hospital and using a crappy symbian mobile phone to post this.

yeah I've been talking about buying some nice cologne for ages now… When I saw the $29 pricetag I couldn't resist. I should be more pleasant to be around now lol.

I asked the same question in store, the girl wasn't sure, then afterwards I felt pretty silly since its a fathers day sale it stands to reason the end date will likely be fathers day :) (1-2 weeks away I think)

Its better since ADG rarely goes on sale and theyre cheap all year round. So I guess its something to compare to CWH depending on what cologne u want

Be weary: chemist warehouse perfume/chemist perfume in general does not last as long as perfume from department stores and other perfume retailers. And there are a lot of other people that will agree. I'm not sure why it's the case but it seems kinda dodgy. Not that this really matters to most ozbargainers but meh.

i haven't faced a problem like this before, but i wouldn't know since i have never purchased the more expensive prices at department stores.
which perfumes/fragrances have you used that exhibit that the department store version is better?
I returned the Dolce gabbana light blue after the scent is non existant after 2 hrs :(

I think there are several things being (potentially) implied here that are worth addressing (as a regular fragrance purchaser, for those that might be interested):
(1) That Chemist Warehouse's stock is inferior to other retailers. I think this has been addressed many other places. Do some research ppl: it's the same stock, simply bought and sold on a much larger scale with smaller margins.
(2) Fragrance doesn't last/smells wrong. Perfume does 'expire' over time. Some would say 3 years from manufacture or 1 year from opening but most of us agree that quality fragrances can last longer, and you can help prolong that. Reaction with light can occur, so keep clear/light bottles in their boxes or a cool, dark cupboard. Keep tightly capped. Again, research it.
As i understand it most fragrances change as the oils/alcohols react, escape or break down. The fragrance changes in longevity and smell, and the contents of the bottle may appear darker.
If you know the fragrance you would have a case with any major retailer if you bought an expired one. You would know it and so would they. But bear in mind that fragrance reacts with the skin and never smells/lasts the same on any two people. EDPs are usually stronger than EDTs.
My experience? I've bought countless fragrances (mens and womens, EDT and EDP) in Australia from CW, Perfume Connection, Myer, DJs etc and never had a single problem. I say buy with confidence.
Sir, thank you so much for this wise post. I actually went digging for much of this and my findings were spot on with what you just said. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the rumor that Chemist Warehouse stock is inferior. I'm feeling much better to hear this may not be the case.
As for shelf life, it seems a combination of keeping the bottles away from light and sealed tightly does prolong life significantly. Also for what it's worth, refrigerating fragrances can actually accelerate a break down of the chemistry so anybody considering that don't bother. Unless its a chilled product designed for that of course.
Half the price, but lasts only half as long as the "originals".
Beware then of the "free gift pack", probably doesnt last very long at all :)
Wow the one million is really cheap. Might grab a couple while I'm there next time. The only thing I hate about going to chemist warehouse is that whenever they have these sales and I walk in there's always a mixture of smells since the more hip old ladies go crazy with the testers.

don't forget also, that there's a $5 off voucher when you sign up to CW, which just about covers your shipping in most cases….

Thanks for your well wishes. Short version: She's okay now!
Long version: My girlfriend had an allergic reaction to antibiotics she was prescribed for a humble cold. In just 3 minutes from taking the pill her body started to turn red and in 5 minutes she was blacking out completely losing her vision (I later understood to be extreme low blood pressure). By about 10 minutes I had her in the ER, i was fortunate to be driving whilst this all happened and be within only a few miles of the nearest hospital so lady luck was on our side yesterday. Had to run a few reds (with caution of course) and I'm glad I did. She was unconscious by the time we got to the hospital and had to carry her into ER. They were extremely prompt getting her on oxygen and drip. All this on my birthday, won't be forgetting this one in a hurry. The doctor later told me my quick response time most likely saved her life. If we were 30 minutes away she wouldn't be alive today.
Anyway she's making a good recovery and she's expected to be 100% by the next 48 hours. I took her home at 4AM and started the first day of my new job at 7AM. What a day!

Thanks guys: Am taking good care of her, she's a nurse and we all know what kind of patients they make… But I figure she's earned it :) And thanks for the bday wishes. Won't lie, it wasn't the best one I've had lol but its all good!
I'm taking her out for a nice dinner friday night. She did hint that I had never bought her perfume the other day, maybe I should get her something :)
