Has anyone seen decent deals on Xbox Live Gold memberships? Cheapest I've seen is $70 for 12 months. My subscription runs out in about a month. I'm not sure if the Brazil subscription via VPN works or not.

Brazil worked for me back in September. Purchased 3 * 12 months from CDKeys ($55 ea), used VPN to apply to my account, upgraded to Ultimate for $1 extra. Total cost $167 for 36 months. No issues since. Looks like CDKeys got a bit cheaper since then @ $49, assuming it still works.

I think I may have to give this a go. I read some discussion that it may not work if your current subscription is no from Brazil?
Can't confirm there, sorry. My account would have been set up as Australian, but has been inactive for years before I did this.
Do you mean that you were able to upgrade the brazil live into australian ultimate?
@nebula9: Not sure if the ultimate is considered 'Australian' or any nationality. But I definitely used a VPN to apply the Brazil gold * 36 months to my inactive account, upgraded to Ultimate for +$1, and now freely play without a VPN.
