Which mobile sim carrier is the best for keeping one's mobile number on a 6-12 month pre-paid plan.
Thanks.

depends on what network you are on at the moment… avoid ports on the same network if every possible
Aldi. A $5 sim with PAYG credit has a 12 month expiry, so you just need to top up within 12 months.
And if you are travelling or something and come back for a visit, buying a value pack for a month will be separate from PAYG credit, and won't affect that 12 month expiry
Do you need to use the number? If you want just want to keep the number, then I think TPG $1/month plan is your best bet. https://www.tpg.com.au/mobile
Edit: Just found out there is a $10 sim charge + $20 prepayment fee though, FYI. If it is 6 to 12 months, maybe something else might be better value.
