[eBay Plus] Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super OC Video Card $299.70 Delivered @ FTC Computers eBay

101
POLKA

It has been a while since a good deal on the 1660 Supers. FTC just lowered their prices by 10% across their range, meaning the POLKA deals are worth it now.

Be warned: this is possibly the worst rated Australian parts seller, known for taking weeks to ship as well as sending out used cards. The gigabyte ones should have tape sealing the ESD bag. If it does not, demand a refund.

If you pay on eBay you should be fine and dandy from a disputes perspective. You'll eventually get a refund.

    These things should be $250

I paid $270 for a RX470 4 years ago on day 1 of release from amazon.com and the GTX 1660 super is around 38% faster today at a discounted price of $332. these new products coming to market from both AMD and Nvidia are a joke and rip off.

First of all this is 72% faster. Secondly exchange rate changed, AUD is weaker now. Finally you can blame the price hikes on crypto mining, that’s what caused the rises and we didn’t recover much.

There's nothing residual from crypto, these cards still have performance unlocks that haven't appeared in DX12 yet, and aren't implemented in Vulkan and OpenGL yet either.

$297 is still a better value proposition than the RTX 2060 @ $430 and the 1660 @ $260, but without knowing the performance impact of mesh shaders (the aforementioned unlock), it's hard to gauge the true performance gap between this and something like the RX580 (4GB was $199 recently).

At present, the gap is 25-30%, but it will most definitely widen for performance enhancements, or an increase in quality if a developer uses it as such. Some of the numbers game developers have been getting in specific scenarios are insane, but I'll reserve judgement until we start to see the gains.

Expect related announcements in late March, and release in mid April. Unclear when games will adopt this, but they were given 18 months lead time to experiment, and 9 months to play with the DX12 API.

  • Has anyone checked out without eBay plus? It appears the coupon applies.

  • I had to return this card. Unless it was faulty, the fans kept revving on and off while browsing, when gaming the fans went full blast and I could hear a loud pulsing grinding sound.

  • This was $297 yesterday, they've jacked the price because they've likely run through their sale price allocation.

Can confirm that I was sent a used Graphics card by this seller. Claimed that there was an error in their marketing dept and it was a 'demo' card that was 'used just once' - though I don't know many computer shops that have a bulk amount of 'demo' graphics cards for sale or many that will install a new graphics card for a once only demo. More likely selling used mining cards and listed the as 'brand new'.
Did get a refund as I lodged a dispute in Ebay.

    • No one would have been using a Turing card for mining, but otherwise thank you for the PSA.

Did they refuse to authorise return of the card before you lodged the dispute?

    • How did you know it was used? I bought this card and now I'm a tad concerned. Haven't shipped yet and the price seems a bit too good to be true to be honest ($349+ everywhere else).

      • It was a Gigabyte Radeon RX570.
Packaged in just bubble wrap. Clear circular marks from the mounting screw. They then confirmed via email that it was a 'once only demo' they sold as brand new.
They agreed to refund easily but I had already lodged through ebay.

        • Thanks. Will carefully examine mine when it arrives.

  • hmm I must've been lucky and got a sealed one with the tape intact. They did take forever to ship it though.

    • How long did it take to ship?

      • +1

I think it arrived a day after the predicted ship date on ebay. So maybe 8 days. The problem was they shipped it through Sendle and they didn't get to pick it up until days later. I live 15 mins away. Could've just picked it up…

  • Back down to $299

I almost pulled the trigger on this last night until i saw their feedback rating.
I know eBay work in favour of buyers, but i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of dispute etc….

Com'on Amazon, match this price already…

  • Got mine today (right on estimated delivery date). Box is not sealed but card is in anti-static bag and the tape looks intact from what I can tell. Surprised at how small this card is compared to all the other graphics cards I've owned.

  • Terrible company. Bought something on Ebay, they listed it as 'sent' but they never dropped it off at the courier (Sendle). I contacted them multiple times and got no reply. At day 28 (Ebay 30 day money back garuntee) I had to go through with the refund. Would never want to deal with them. Ever.
