Bring back the original Coca-cola ingredients and I'm interested… Rick James!
Can you freebase Coca Cola?
Price is ok but remember only 300ml cans. It was a great price when I bought some 3 months ago for $5.45 delivered (Prime member).
Yeah I thought paid around $5. For this price is not much difference than picking up 2l bottles on sale.
This doesn’t come in 2L bottles
Not this exactly, other premium Cola's.
@[Deactivated]: I haven’t drunk cola in many years, what premium ones are available in 2L bottles?
@mapax: Walk around a supermarket or change your perception of premium.
@[Deactivated]: Helpful, thanks.
@mapax: Well surely you still go to supermarkets occasionally? 🤔
@[Deactivated]: My local supermarket doesn’t carry a lot of variety, the fanciest they usually get is vanilla coke, although a while ago they had a coffee flavor but I’m pretty sure it was only 1.25L. Unless you count vanilla as premium, in which case our perceptions are out of phase.
@mapax: 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏾
For anyone that bought previously, whats the taste like for the original?
I love it , this time going to try some kind of bourbon mix to hopefully end up with the best coke/bourbon mixture in the world .
I bought it for JD and really liked it
This stuff beats coke by 100 miles mixed with Johnnie Walker
JW… Can't trust this guys tare taste.
@justtoreply: Why do you think I drowned it in Pepsi?!
Have you tried this?
https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_ER_1000005556_CO/ja…
I found it to be much better than Pepsi 1893 (I liked Pepsi 1893 though)
@[Deactivated]: Jarritos definitely trumps Coke every time, although not exactly cost effective.
Can be had a Mad Mex as well
What is the best colour JW you think ?
@profar: Black simply wins every time. It’s the value sweet spot, and as you go farther up the range you see diminishing returns.
Tasted quite good. However it took at least 6 weeks to deliver!
It's the sh*t. I'd say it's easily the best new Cola recipe introduced by any major brand since Vanilla Coke, and far better than Raspberry/Vanilla Pepsi Max, Pepsi Next or Coffee/Orange/Raspberry/Peach Coke.
I have a religious hatred for regular Pepsi or Pepsi Max, but this stuff is a hundred times better and it even competes with the holiest of holies, Vanilla Coke, to the point that I've been substituting Pepsi 1893 for Vanilla Coke a lot lately.
The taste is something like an ordinary Pepsi base with stronger carbonation, cinnamon/citrus/spice notes and a hint of Chinotto.
I've also noticed that it retains its carbonation for a lot longer than either Coke or Pepsi before going flat, as usually by the time you buy a large pack of Cola cans and get to the last one, the taste is noticeably flatter and duller than the first few; whereas Pepsi 1893 has a remarkably consistent taste even if it's been sitting around for months.Thankyou!
The 1893 taste a bit "Smokey" compared to normal pepsi. It's a bit like someone has stubbed out a ciggy in it….but in a good way :)
Weirdly enough, I agree, but it's definitely a positive thing. They have a slight aroma similiar to the kind you get in a crowded bar; cigarette smoke, strong liquors, other unmistakable "bar odours", etc. You get different notes with each sip, sort of like drinking whiskey on the rocks.
The ginger flavour is very nice but they are both loaded with sugar, wont be buying again
It's soft drink lol
This is a very valid point
There is a place in the market for soft drink with significantly lower sugar. Surprised they don't even have a diet version to be honest.
There's no place in the market for low sugar soft drink. If it tastes shit, which it does, it's not worth drinking.
There is a place for sugar free drinks, (insert bin/drain cleaner joke here)
but there's a key problem with Sugar Free, and that's carbonation.
Especially because of the taste & sensation of carbonation, interferes with the balance of flavours.
As soon as you carbonate a drink, the sense of taste changes and it becomes harder to discern sugar and sweetener, but that also shifts the sense of taste of the overall content, since the sensation of the bubbles triggers a mild mustard / horseradish type response which will highlight and obscure bitter responses and flavours in the mix.
Which is one of the reasons they blend Stevia with sweeteners when carbonated, and why flat soft drinks have a strong reaction with people who have stronger negative reaction to sweet and bitter flavours.
And it's also likely why stevia is more popular in Japan, where wasabi is a valued / promoted flavour and the bitterness is palatable.
When you remove sucralose and sweeteners entirely, the most common problem is dealing with the 'pain' association with the mustard sensation in the throat and nose which is felt rather than perceived.
And the effort to mask/ filter this is not as developed. Especially with brands like Nexba and odd Vegan drinks, etc.
Or self mixing sodastream drinks and teas / Vegan options…. Good luck is all I'll say.
Ginger is often a usable substitute, but it's more expensive to process, etc. Watermelon, and oddball carbonation mixes are common, trying to mask and contrast the sweeteners and the mustard sensation expected, etc.
Good luck with the challenges of finding sugar free options, I suppose. I gave up on it a while ago.
Keep in mind, Excess sweeteners can also cause mild calcium loss due to the phosphoric acid (and other food acids) leeching minerals, and needing more magnesium / manganese (and other vitamins) to process regular diet drinks and low calorie sweeteners. Men / women have different tolerances for manganese and magnesium loss, YMMV.
Also there's the dental problems triggered by sugar and sweeteners, so YMMV. Multivitamins and balancing Mn/Mg can help offset the calcium loss and bone decay over time.
@toliman: You just won the internet…
Great I finally found some to use all my $10 promo's on :)
Hmm might have to buy this from a supermarket to try!
For WA people Crazy Don's in Kelmscott have the Cola for $7.95 a carton and the Ginger for $9.95 a carton. Both close to code though. Makes no difference going down though…. :-)
Bought some for an upcoming birthday party. Thanks OP!
Damn "no spend week"!
Ginger is currently unavailable.
Gone? Dammit.
Says in stock but no buying options? 😕
Thanks OP bought two
not working for me, both ginger and original have no buying options and sellers
It's all gone now. Keep an eye on it, I think they do have this promo quite often.
…….
Received mine today. Short dated expiry on the ginger cola - 2 March. Need to almost drink a can every day or so to go through the carton before it expires. It does taste nice though. A bit weak on the ginger but still very nice.
Same with the cola. Best before 2 March 2020.
Complain to Amazon. Tell them you can't finish it in time. They refunded me as they agreed it wasn't healthy to drink a can every day
Thanks julz. I might just do that.
Just had a can and it doesn’t taste as fizzy as ones I’ve bought from Coles.
More available. I just setup an alert through CCC.
Edit: ….. and gone.
In at 7am, gone by 9 or something :(
Pretty much. I got the CCC alert and immediately ordered.
Checked again a few minutes later, OOS.
Ginger too.
