Calling this a VR headset is a bit generous.

I'd avoid the Zeiss one since it doesn't even work with phones above 5.5

    • +1

Could you suggest a cheap VR headset for me then? I have a Redmi Note 7 Pro and it doesn't have NFC. The screen size is 6.3 inches. Thanks.

        • -5

Do a search for google on google

        • +20

Maybe they where just looking for a personal opinion and not just some paid youtube ad review.

      • If you like DIY you could make your own Cardboard headset. The only thing you really need to buy are the lens.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • +14

    Great to watch 3D Pron

    • +4

Is that what the Stealthiness is for?

    • +3

It's the only reason to own one of these currently.

    • +17

Great to play 3D Pron games, with your own joystick.

      • +8

I wish I could play for hours.. My joystick only lasts a minute. Anyone know where I can get a better one?

        • +6

It's a manufacturing defect… Not sure if ACL applies

          • +2

@RSmith: Aww dang it!.. it's too old to be covered by warranty as well.

      • +5

Take the blue pill and you'll be back in your own VR matrix in no time

        • -1

Nvm.. I found a fix. After it dies, start paying with it right away and it will last a long time… though your motivation and experience will not be as exciting as first time.

  • Zeiss? Wowzer must be amazing lens!

  • So it's just for you to click your phone in?

    • +2

      Yes.

Has the same functionality as Google Cardboard. There's no electronics in these headsets, as they're just a plastic mold fitted with plastic lens, capacitive tape and a strap.

    • Couldn't get ebay C&C to work for southern Tassie stores so I had to buy via their website…

    • +3

Shipping was $7, so I chose C&C. They just emailed me saying that was no stock available for C&C so they'll ship it to me for free instead.
      Score.

Edit: Never mind, no warehouse stock either so it got cancelled.

      • im surprised you even got to the next part of the process because if its not available for C&C, why would they want to ship it to you for free?
they would've said to pay for the shipping option

      • whend did you place order? mine C&C order placed yesterday around 6.30 got cancelled. Delivery one is still showing processing!

    • Any link for the black one?

      NVM: sold out

  • Does anyone know if it comes in a box?

    • +51

      No box.
The postman will arrive at your door wearing them.

      • +3

Then who's real, the postman or you?

        • Schrodinger’s postman

      • +1

        3D Going Postal? :o

      • +1

This comment really made me lol…. :-D

    • -1

      No box.
might wanna clean it b4 you use it, might be sticky.

    • It came in a Zeiss "Recertified" box and appears brand-new, straps and face-foam part appear unused…

  • Suitable for Note 10+?

    • I dont think so, their website says fits 4-6inch. the note 10+ is 6.8

  • +1

Any recommendations for a cheap controller, just looking at ebay there's things like this:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wireless-Bluetooth-Gamepad-Remot…

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Mini-Wireless-Bluetooth-Game…

anyone have any experience with them?, comments? … cheers..

I have the second black one that I bought years ago. Its alright when it actually connects lol, has a setting on the side to switch it into 'gaming' mode which is a nice touch.

    • +1

I also bought the second one about a year or so ago and was recently was thrown out. It stopped holding charge. Also, it's tiny and will cramp your hands after a while. I personally would spend a little more and go for a 8bit Zero/Zero 2 if your wanting something ultra small.

    • so do these only work for samsung vr headsets or can you use them with any vr headset

  • What VR headset would people recommend for IPhone 10/11?

  • This thing must be old, only fits phones up to 5.5"?

    • Now I'm concerned, even I have s10e which is arguably one of the smallest flagship phone on the market. Should I refund on the spot?

  • Seems to be out of stock everywhere (least in NSW) with being unavailable for delivery too.

  • -1

Was released 5 years ago so make sure to wipe the sweat bacteria off with a disinfectant.

  • Don't know why I need it, but I'll buy one anyway. 😂

P/s just read the comment it only fit 5.5" phone which is almost existent these days, even with s10e. Is there workaround this?

  • No wonder these headsets are being sold off cheap, it seems Google has basically discontinued support, lol
    https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/6/20952495/google-cardboard…

I guess with Facebook/Oculus taking over, google aren’t interested in competing..

  • HMMM… It seems Google have removed all their VR apps other than Cardboard, and that has basically nothing in it, you go to "get apps" and it says "item not found" lol .. It seems they've deleted Youtube VR, Google Earth VR, and such…

I cant actually find anything even slightly interesting to do with this VR headset, the rollercoasters and odd 3rd party games seem to be total crap…

    Am I missing something?

  • Hi FLICKIT,

Tried Google VR in general search, quite a few apps (I have Nokia 8 & got "incompatible device" from playstore for some bigger/better ones - including Firefox VR :( ). There are Mars,Space, Cave VR ones

The main Earth VR is now steam/Vive/Occulus but cardboard link is (compatible with my non siera phone, unsure why uk and no update since 2017) :-

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.hls.earth

Whoops sorry NOT Google & reviews not positive, anyway just a general Google search "Google VR" (not Playstore) brings up quite a few apps just need to click one-by-one.

  • Thanks but When you search play store for Google VR or such all you get is low ranked junk, most is chockablock full of ads, and most doesn't really work… I tried that "Earth VR", it's certainly not a google earth app, lol, it's like a VERY low-res fly-by with basically no control, the 2.6 score says it all, most apps are much the same, really not usable…

4 hours of tinkering and I haven't been able to find a single app that's interesting or worthwhile, lol ..

  • +1

Picked one of the stealth vr headsets today, surprisingly the unit itself seems very decent and high quality especially for $5. As above, it's hard to find good apps to use with it. But it's worth downloading a free vr horror app to scare the crap out of friends and family… $5 well spent!

  • I ordered them online - then they came back saying there's no stock and you should choose another store. I chose another store to pick up and then they came back again saying there's no stock and you should choose from another store. But then there were no other stores to choose from. Why do I bother with EB Games?

  • Do think thay work with the note 9
