Auspost Lost Three Parcels from Different Senders

Couldn't believe Auspost could get this bad but they lost three of my parcels from different senders.

Two of them processed at Sydney facility on the 27th of Dec and one on the 29th, and then nothing. I've gone through their missing item system and they have no clue where they have gone.

What kind of bad luck is this? It really has me worrying now for any future auspost delivery, and its not like I can expect fastway, startrack, etc. to be any better.

Was the facility in bushfire zone ?

    • I think the facility is in Chullora, so probably not.

        Chullora is a central hub.

    Maybe change your home.

  • During early December I lost numerous items from postings from a red PO box . Favourite cuprite is the person who picks up the mail from the boxes .

Solution was to hand the normal mail over the counter in the PO and all is fine again .

    • Mine were already handed in and going through the auspost system though.

    • Yes I never lodge anything via the street boxes unless I really really have to.

Always do a over the counter lodgement, to get that 'lodge' scan event.

This way insurance is started for the item. I heard some rumours about insurance issues for items lodge in street boxes, that didn't have any scans from auspost side not being paid out. As auspost didn't know if the items had really been posted or not.

Did you claim insurance on your missing items? any issues with claiming?

I've had lost and have 2 current AWOL Aust Post parcels to my home address. As an aside, I also had lost an amazon package delivered by courier. The courier parcel was recovered and I asked what the hell happened and what I deduced was that their mapping system had my house as being few houses down from mine, if not typed correctly.

I live in a dual-unit site, so my address is '1 / 27' and if you forget the 'slash' and type in the string of numbers (127 or 1 27), the house that shows up on the map is the first house (no. 1) of the street. This also occurs with google maps. No idea why - no idea why the delivery person doesn't check the numbers while actually delivering (maybe adds too much time).

Maybe consider a Parcel Locker (if convenient) as the only time parcels have been lost/mis-delivered is when to my home address. I've never had a parcel locker delivery lost.

      +1 for Parcel Locker

However I have had a run in with the lost parcel when using them.

Ordered a bigger item that I thought would fit in the Parcel Locker, parcel got to the City and then no updates for days.
Ended up going to the service desk at the Parcel Lockers and was advised the postie must not have scanned the parcel when they dropped it off in the too large section… I guess it's to be expected when they are handling 100's of items a day!

    • Mine didn't even make it to my local post office for delivery though so that wouldn't help.
And no parcel locker around here.

    Was it drugs?
If it was drugs then the import boys have probably nabbed them, make sure your house is clean as you might get a visit in a couple of months.

What does the last online tracking event show for each parcel?

    • +1

      Item processed at facility
      SYDNEY NSW

      • The tracking normally says which specific facility and I am not familiar with a "Sydney" facility (we send about 20-30 parcels a week)

        • That is what mine have said for quite a while now, and I ship out a lot too.
I assume it is just the Chullora facility.

          • @Gehirn: If you ship quite a lot of parcels then I assume you would have a MyPost Business account with AusPost. If so lodge your inquiries via your online account portal. AusPost give priority to inquiries via that source. Chances are they will miraculously find your missing pacels within a couple of days.

            • @Ocker: Yes I have lodged the inquires under my MyPost account just over a week ago.
I am not the sender of these though fyi.

Processed (then stolen immediately by the same AP staff) in the Chullora facility :p

Your parcels were probably donated to a postman's Bushfire Awareness campaign. Thank you for your contribution.

  • They lost my G PRO wireless :(

    Share my story here.

Shipped a Parcel Return from VIC to SA on 24th of Dec, yes, the Christmas Eve.
    Here is what I've got:

    Onboard for delivery

    WINGFIELD SA Mon 6 Jan • 9:22am

Customer enquiry lodged Mon 30 Dec • 3:30pm

Item processed at facility SYDNEY NSW Fri 27 Dec • 12:55pm

Received by Australia Post PRESTON VIC Tue 24 Dec • 3:56pm

    Return requested Tue 24 Dec • 2:23pm

As the parcel should go SA from VIC directly and I didn't expect the parcel needs to be transferred to NSW.
Contacted the AUSPost on 30 Dec and they had no clues.
The parcel is valued ~$1,700 so I was concerned.
    It turned out thankfully.

  • All mail is electronically sorted and on occasions an item is initially sent to the incorrect mail delivery destination centre. Happens to maybe 1% of items processed

Even so there still should be an update in its tracking after two weeks.

They lost one of mine too and the last tracking even was 'Item processed' at Redbank. AusPost claims it was damaged but they told Amazon it was lost. Amazon gave me a full refund but 2 of the items were lightning deals so the refund didn't cover re-ordering them :-(.

    • After a month the missing/lost parcel arrived today. It wasn't in an Amazon box (the label was cut off from the original and attached to this one), had no padding and the contents were very sticky (one of the Coke cans in my order must have ruptured in the original box) but it got here in the end and the electronic items were perfectly fine.
I'm happy - I already got a full refund and some credit for the inconvenience and everything is still usable.

I've always wondered where all the millions of dollars in lost parcels end up. They have to end up somewhere, so why aren't they eventually sent to where they need to go?

    • +2

Lost packages end up in the Auspost staff monthly lottery, or eBay.

Give it a few more days….
Their CEO was receiving 5mil+ for what…
It is a 3rd world system… I hate receiving items from OS that have to run the gauntlet here in OZ…
What is wrong with these people

I had the same issue — 4 parcels lost in a 3 week period in December; items sent both to my Parcel Locker in Brunswick and my office address in Melbourne's CBD. I raised support requests for all of them and it took up to three weeks to even get a response from Auspost corporate. Seems like they have been completely overwhelmed by the busy Christmas period. I have no idea where the 4 parcels are, nor does Auspost by the sounds of it.

We had two parcels delivered to incorrect addresses over Xmas, luckily both neighbours returned them to us.

I'm having the same dispute with AusPost now, they are trying to refer to me StarTrack….. *face palm

    Shipped 29 Nov 2019

Listed as Item processed at facility - SYDNEY NSW
    Mon 2 Dec • 6:36am

    And so the game begins….

  • Startrack have lost a parcel (ozbargain - shoes from Platypus)

if they decide its lost forever do they replace the items or refund? a refund would be crappy as they were a DEAL and can't be replaced for the same money
