    Water restriction.

    • Pressure washers are practically useless in NSW. Sydney's restriction is at level 2 and you already need an exemption to use one. Other areas have even more restrictive levels.

    • That's a dumb rule because pressure washers use (profanity)-all water.

      • You may think the rule is dumb, but it is still a rule.

Noticing you are in WA, I came across this on the Water Corporation of WA site:

You can only use a high pressure water cleaner or hand held hose to spray buildings, building sites, demolition sites, paths, paved areas and roads to:
        - fight fires
        - avoid a threat to public health or safety (eg: cleaning up a chemical spill)
        - construct, demolish or repair buildings, paved areas and roads.

Does anyone know what the penalty is, so I can consider whether or not it is worth breaking the rules?

    • Not everywhere has current water restrictions. Also, if people have rainwater tanks or a proper greywater recycling system, the water from those is not normally subject to restrictions.

  • Thanks, bought one to wash car with. I hope it is compatible with a bucket.

Quickest way to wash the paint off your panels is 4800 PSI.

      • 4800 PSI will remove paint? Can I reduce the pressure to 4000 PSI then?

        • You'll want no higher than 3000 PSI or you risk damaging your paint or tyres. If its just for driveways and cars, id recommend you get a cheaper electric 2400 PSI washer instead . You'll need to check if you can reduce the pressure on this model.

          • @Kill Joy: He bought one already .. way to kill the joy.

          • +4

@Kill Joy: That's 4800 Chinese PSI, converted to around 2400 local. So spot on for a car wash.

            • @dosada: At triple the price of a 2400 PSI pressure washer, its a lose lose. If it only puts out 2400, your getting ripped off - if its putting out more then your paints being ripped off.

        • just stand back further

        • Not sure on the features of the pump but lower pressure can be achieved in 2 ways reduce the flow (if it has an unloader valve, or reduce RPM of engine) or use a nozzle with a bigger orifice.

Don't be fooled by the PSI rating alone….the L/min is also very important

It's only pushing out the water at 9.2 L/min. The brand name washers will do 12-15 L/min - the more L/min pushed out (weight) the greater the cleaning power of the washer

        • Typically, i see the 2 as:

          Pressure = Penetration
          L/min = Productivity

    • You'll strip the clear coat at the very least lol

It will be very effective. The car will be a very silver metal and black plastic colour in no time.

    What's the normal price?

  • This is for cleaning roofs and not your car. Please do not wash your car with this.

While it may not be ideal for the job you can easily use this machine to wash a car - FWIW I say this as I've owned and used this EXACT model (it's identical to the $400 one Aldi had around 8mths ago). The pressure (and you go by the continuous operating pressure NOT the max pressure) is variable by adjusting the throttle) so you can keep it way below 3000psi by having at idle…..also you use the higher angle heads for things like cars etc - so it's no issue at all.

NOW THAT SAID, I don't think this is a great pressure cleaner and I also think it's NOT ideallysuited for cars - but not so much due to the pressure - for cleaning vehicles you'd find that an electric mode is much better as you can pull it out and use for a few mins and put away, no oil/fuel checks needed. A petrol engine is better suited for very full on taks that are done not very often but for long period - so you'd 100% right about roofs (which is exactly what I used mine for). FWIW it was ok at that.

I had to return mine it had multiple issues - and ultimately I didn't find the build quality to be great for the money.

FWIW if you're looking at buying a pressure washer it's well worth understanding effective vs max pressure ratings and also flow rate - people tend to focus too much on the max pressure which actually tells you very little on the actual performance the machine is capable of:

That's the best name they could come up with for a business?

    Warning!

Do not use this to wash your car!

    • -1

Yes you can, just turn the throttle down to lower the pressure. Get a soap sprayer attachment.

  • There no way this is 4800psi, would be more like 3000psi.
