What Are Your Must-Have Additions to Your Computer Setup?

Hi all,

I'm currently looking to improve on my setup by buying a couple of peripherals and would be keen to hear what you would recommend!

I've ordered an USB Hub, some cable clips and a cable tray and am currently looking for a custom mousepad to spice things up.

Also currently I own a wireless mouse (MX Anywhere 2S), a mechanical keyboard, some cheap hand-me down speakers, bluetooth headphones and have just ordered a RGB strip as well!

With my setup I mostly play games and is also where I mostly do my uni work.

edit: added details on what I do own and what I do
edit 2: added more details I forgot initially

Wireless 'everything', basically… ditch all cords. Wireless keyboard and mouse of course, but also wireless connectivity to a nice huge screen (or two) somewhere within eyesight (via an appropriate device), wireless connectivity to some speakers, your printer… there's really not much beyond that… these days a pute is kinda the same as a mobile phone re 'connectivity'… the only difference is the size of the hard drive/RAM/screen/etc … it depends what you want to DO with your pute…

    • If you are gaming often, I do not recommend getting a wireless mouse.
Headset, yes, keyboard, yes, but do not get a wireless mouse. The input lag really bothers me.

Nah, the Logitech G Pro Wireless for example is pretty much lag free.

    • Disgusting, I love cables, there's nothing more cyberpunk than cables.

Awww, beautiful-but-simple negger-peeps, before negging it would be considerate to check whether perhaps the post you are planning to neg was made prior to subsequent edits being made to the original post by the OP.

It is a (very minor) flaw in 'the system' I suppose, that initial responses to a post can subsequently seem misguided/neg-worthy if the OP subsequently substantially changes the original post. AAAAny-hoo, fortuitously I couldn't give a flying … (etc.).

      Juz sayin'

      ;P

  • How can offer advice without knowing what you own and what you do?

    • Completely slipped my mind to put in what I do own, editing the post to include that now!

Having a giant mousepad is useful for keeping things organised on, mine is 40cm, though it's just black I know there are places to get custom printed ones. Headphone stand, desk lamp, a tray to keep some pens in including the one for the tablet, a small clothing type tape measure, a scalpel (like an x-acto knife but a lot better, great for opening mail/packages). If you don't have a mechanical keyboard yet I highly recommend it, I upgraded last year and got a custom ebony wood wrist rest for it which is just beautiful. I'll have a 3D printer soon, so I'll actually be designing and printing my own new headphone stand and pen tray. Probably somewhere to put my glasses too since I don't wear them inside.

    • Hey, I've been looking at headphones stands as well and I was worried that they might ruin the cushioning on the headband of them. How has your experience been with them? Also do you have any idea on where to get custom printed ones that are still quality mousepads?

  • Don't cheap out on a quality seat. You sit for so many hours, your body will thank you for it.

    • Would love to buy one but unfortunately just don't have the money at the moment :(

      • Good posture will do too:)

  • No $ limit Internet $4999 per month.
